It’s always a pleasure to attend Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. This year I return feeling particularly inspired and energised by all of the fantastically creative work I saw and the insightful debates and discussions which I was fortunate enough to be part of - Thank you GroupM and Campaign UK. The beauty of Cannes is its ability to promote diversity of thought and inspire new ways of doing things and for me there were three key themes which I believe will become increasingly integral to the work that we do at Mars Food & Nutrition: 🗒️Key notes 1. While AI continues to be at the forefront of debates across advertising and marketing, there has been a notable shift towards the need to pair AI with human intelligence. As marketing professionals we need to ensure that the emotional and ethical elements that only human intuition and intelligence can provide sit side by side with the many data and information driven benefits of AI. Cannes is actually the perfect example of this – inspiration and creativity being driven by human connectivity, partnership and interaction that is difficult for AI to replace. 2. It is becoming increasingly difficult to separate creativity and technology. The two enhance rather than detract from each other but we must ensure that we are deploying technology in the right way and embracing its benefits rather than resisting its influence. 3. The fundamentals of brand building are still the same but how we do this has changed and continues to evolve at exponential pace. If we can effectively harness the revolutionary new tools at our disposal then there is an incredible opportunity to engage with consumers in more authentic and engaging ways than ever before. I’m more excited 🤩 than ever about the opportunities we have for creativity across our own brands at Mars Food & Nutrition and I’m looking forward to being back here again to showcase the amazing work of our colleagues and partners.
