Wrong 4th great - grandfather

I would like to see a smoother process of repairing broken links. I think I have the wrong person for my 4th great-grandfather and I have gone well past him migrating from West England back to Yorkshire. This is probably where I need to search, but perhaps not through this person.

Findmypast.com has helped me to find so…

Findmypast.com has helped me to find so much about my family history! It's unbelievable how quickly hints start popping up once you enter your information. I was adopted when I was in the 5th grade but had no idea where to begin my research. I was surprised how much easier it was then I thought it would be. I truly recommend trying it out yourself. I promise your be surprised what you might find in your family history!

Excellent Service

My little dog had had diarrhea for 3 days, and no over the counter medicine was working. Since the diarrhea seemed to be getting worse, and it was Saturday, I texted requesting an emergent appointment. I was able to bring her in for a drop off appointment within 30 minutes of sending the text. Dr Butler evaluated and treated her quickly, and she is now feeling much better. The entire staff was wonderful!

Not what it seems

I took a 7 day free trial and couldn’t access anything. Just got adverts to “upgrade”

I like how easy Findmypast is to use

I like how easy Findmypast is to use, and that there are so many American records on it. What I specifically wanted to use it for is to make connections with my British roots, and get the names of my American colonists who settled in Virginia just after Jamestown. I want to know where in England or Scotland they were from, and also their parents. I am hoping as I get more familiar with how to use the site, those will be found,

I like the self generating hints in…

I like the self generating hints in aiding to find my ancestors. The hints still need to be examined. I have lots of trees on findmypast. I like to find ALL the records regarding my people, not just one or two. It's fairly straightforward to use.

The FindmyPast interface should be more user-friendly

I subscribe to three genealogy sites: Ancestry, MyHeritage and FindmyPast. I use FindmyPast mainly for research on my English ancestry because its search facilities are the easiest and most accurate. But I don't like FindmyPast's profile pages and documentation lists. Everything is small, cramped, and dark; I can't seem to change the dark blue background. It's depressing, and there's too much dark blue. Nor do I like the fact that I can't easily look at most other people's trees without asking the way I can in Ancestry. I don't mind if someone looks at my tree, and I think most people are the same. Having a private tree should be an option, not the default situation. As an indication of how much I use the sites, I have over 8,000 people in my Ancestry tree, 80% of whom were born in England, but only about 800 people in my FindmyPast tree, because adding people and adding documentation is such a chore.

I am really enjoying the newspapers and…

I am really enjoying the newspapers and the 1921 census. However Ancestry seems to have a better search engine as it will find church records that Findmypast misses, even though I eventually find the record. I also wish it was easier to choose a specific census to search.

Useful and Well-Designed Service

I have been able to find a few family members going back to the 1500s, thanks to the huge collection of records. For the most part, the site is very well designed, and I especially appreciated the hints. One thing I would like is the ability to move more easily between the family trees and the search window. I've found that sometimes you need to see the tree to figure out who to assign a record to. For example, where a grandfather, father, son are all named "John" with the same last name, it can be difficult to identify the right "John" from the drop-down list unless you remember the specific birth dates or death dates. There is no convenient way of accessing the tree at the same time as viewing the search (i.e., that I know of).

Have just started with FindMyPast

Have just started FindMyPast. Made mistake on entering some of my family on the tree but will correct ASAP. Layout was a bit more difficult then other Genealogy sites. Hope to make my FamilySearch, Ancestry, WikiTree and FindMyPast all the same so that other can look into which one serves them best.

The Search in this program by far I think it's the best.

The search engine is by far the easiest and best. The entire site you can easily get around and find what youre looking for. If it doesn't have the answers which usually it does, they can send you to where you will find them.
