Esta investigación tiene como objeto de análisis el sistema industrial en América Latina, específ... more Esta investigación tiene como objeto de análisis el sistema industrial en América Latina, específicamente las transformaciones ocurridas en dicho sistema tras la implementación de los programas de ajuste estructural, en los primeros años de la década del setenta del siglo pasado; así como su impacto sobre la clase trabajadora, la cual se articulaba y reafirmaba en torno a la industria construida a lo largo del periodo de sustitución de importaciones.
A cuatro décadas de distancia, parece oportuno reflexionar acerca de si continúa siendo correcto el calificar estas transformaciones como parte de un proceso de reestructuración productiva. Es decir, es necesario pensar sobre la utilidad de éste concepto y si es que ayuda a definir la problemática que enfrentó la industria latinoamericana en su momento, así como las repercusiones que actualmente se observan. O si, más bien, es parte de una narrativa que permitió justificar cambios sustanciales en el patrón de acumulación de capital y en la distribución funcional del ingreso en los países que conforman la región.
Como respuesta a las interrogantes planteadas, en este trabajo se propone la categoría desindustrialización, como eje rector para estudiar las transformaciones ocurridas en el sistema productivo latinoamericano, siendo una característica central de la investigación el que toma −como marco analítico− las nociones de la teoría marxista de la dependencia, haciendo énfasis en la obra del sociólogo brasileño Ruy Mauro Marini, a fin de dotar a esta categoría de un cuerpo teórico que dé cuenta de sus especificidades.
El artículo analiza la vigencia de la noción de “superexplotación del trabajo”, propuesta por el ... more El artículo analiza la vigencia de la noción de “superexplotación del trabajo”, propuesta por el sociólogo brasileño Ruy Mauro Marini en su obra Dialéctica de la Dependencia (1973). Dicho concepto es uno de los mayores aportes latinoamericanos al pensamiento crítico y a la teoría marxista de la dependencia. Así como punto clave en la teoría de Marini para explicar la forma en que la región se inserta en la nueva división internacional del trabajo, inserción que tiene como consecuencia directa el que, desde mediados de los años setenta, la estructura productiva latinoamericana comience un ciclo de desindustrialización. Para ejemplificar la explotación redoblada se aborda brevemente el caso de México tras la imposición del neoliberalismo.

En el presente artículo se analizan críticamente algunas “ideas-fuerza” que han sido elaboradas y... more En el presente artículo se analizan críticamente algunas “ideas-fuerza” que han sido elaboradas y discutidas dentro y fuera de la CEPAL, así como aquellos otros temas que no son considerados dentro de sus estudios, pero que repercuten directamente sobre la realidad económica y social de los pueblos latinoamericanos. Se pone énfasis en analizar la visión que domina hoy en día dentro de la CEPAL, ligada a las propuestas de Joseph Schumpeter sobre la relevancia que tienen la innovación y la tecnología en la búsqueda del desarrollo económico. A lo largo del artículo se encontrará –como trasfondo– la crítica a la forma en que la CEPAL conceptualiza el desarrollo: siempre desde una visión aunada a la idea del progreso, al incremento de la riqueza y al consumo constante. Definición que excluye todas las visiones que resisten a la modernidad capitalista y que buscan construir una alternativa a la realidad imperante.
