Fusion today announced it will begin broadcasting a one-hour edition of “Nightline,” the award-winning #1 show in late late night, produced by ABC News. Fusion will capitalize on the smart, innovative journalism viewers have come to expect from “Nightline” with a weekly broadcast in primetime hosted by ABC News’ Gio Benitez and Fusion’s Kimberly Brooks, along with contributions from additional ABC News and Fusion talent.

“Nightline on Fusion,” which premieres Wednesday, February 18 at 8:00 p.m., will include stories from the late-night program that resonate with Fusion’s young, diverse millennial audience, as well as original content produced for Fusion.

Since its launch in October 2013, Fusion has seen tremendous success with its news and investigative programming – “Nightline on Fusion” will be the latest addition to the network’s growing lineup that delivers content that is smart, authentic, and entertaining.

“We are pleased to bring Nightline’s immersive storytelling style to a younger generation – a generation that craves news content that reflects their diverse interests and passions,” said Fusion Senior Vice President and Chief Programming Officer Wade Beckett.

“This show is an exciting example of the power and potential of an already winning partnership – that we can bring our content to a whole new audience by leveraging in such a direct way the extraordinary talent at both ABC News and at Fusion,” said “Nightline” Executive Producer Roxanna Sherwood.

Gio Benitez is an award-winning reporter who made a name for himself early in his career by becoming the first reporter to ever shoot a television story entirely with an iPhone. Gio has covered a wide range of stories for the network, including the Boston Marathon bombing, the Alabama child held hostage underground in an eight-day standoff, and nearly every major snowstorm that swept the nation during the winter of 2013. Prior to joining ABC, Gio was a reporter for WFOR, the CBS owned-and-operated TV station in Miami. He is the recipient of two regional Emmy Awards and is an eight-time nominee. Most notably, Gio was nominated for his investigative series on alleged police brutality, which resulted in two Miami officers being forced to turn in their guns and badges. Gio was born and raised in Miami, and is fluent in both English and Spanish.
