FEATURED RELEASES:

The Clicks
Snakehouse

The Cliks - led by vocalist/guitarist Lucas Silveira with Morgan Doctor, Nina Martinez and Jen Benton - are known for their blazing, uncompromising live performances. The ferocious Toronto-based band will be touring the US performing songs from their forthcoming album, 'Snakehouse' [April 24/Tommy Boy/Silver Label]. From the brash, energetic first single "Oh Yeah" or the sexy yet gutsy "Leading Me On," to their crowd favorite radical re-working of Justin Timberlake's "Cry Me A River," The Cliks deliver a "defiant intensity" (MTV.com).

On 'Snakehouse', The Cliks have created something mysterious yet transparent, specific yet universal, timeless yet intoxicatingly new. This is music that seems to emanate from a parallel universe, one where fundamental distinctions are blurred, living passionately is the highest level of existence and rock & roll is the ultimate form of expression.

"Primal, stylish ferocity reminiscent of the early Pretenders" – Boston Globe

See The Cliks on 4/27 Brooklyn Cattyshack & 5/1 NYC Mercury Lounge

Pela
Anytown Graffiti

Pela's brand of pastoral punk has been beautifully described as equal parts desperation and inspiration, which they have masterfully crafted into a signature sound. Their upcoming debut album, Anytown Graffiti, is a prism of songs reflecting the broken love, reckless hope, confusion, celebration, isolation, discovery, addiction, loss, small town stares and big city angst of American life through the eyes of 4 young men uncompromisingly living it.

Jarvis Cocker
Jarvis

It's what we've all been waiting for; Jarvis Cocker is back. Jarvis first solo album follows on from his controversial online only single, Running The World, which was first unleashed on the public via Myspace.com/jarvspace to coincide with the first anniversary of Live-8, quite purposefully of course, and has since taken on a cult anthemic status all of its own. The single Don't Let Him Waste Your Time will be out Jan. 8

Ola Podrida
Ola Podrida

David Wingo (Brooklyn, NY/Austin, TX) has been the soundtrack to Southern lives for years- literally. As the composer behind the scores for David Gordon Green's films (George Washington, All the Real Girls), Wingo framed the onscreen images with beautiful, complementary arrangements, hitting all the right emotional notes. This background in scoring shines through in his solo project, Ola Podrida, which began as a home-recording project for Wingo but has now blossomed into a live band that also features fellow Texan expats Andrew Kenny (American Analog Set), Robert Patton, Matthew Frank and Johnny Christ. To describe this music as cinematic is an understatement.

Air Conditioning
Dead Rails

This Allentown, PA area located black cloud generator is currently bellowing out upside down crossed brown wavesdirectly into the smog zone. Following in the tradition of old school shape-shifters like STARFUCKERS and RAMLEH - AIR CONDITIONING hot wire the amplified hearse with a lunatic fringe of barf--breathed fuck lust. Do not expect anything but a journey into the mekano wiring of tweeter fry and clasp pin kick drum repair. Red hot! Sounds generated use rock tools of guitar and drums.

Long after the autopsy on the music of the 2000's begin and we forget about the STROKES/ARCADE FIRE et al as disposable college musiks, important and timeless soundz such as AIR CONDITIONING, SIGHTINGS and MOUTHUS will emerge as thug fisted bouncers ready to kick your ass on dispatch of the needle to the rekkid. Beware, where there is leather, there is lace.

So, if you are still shopping for the sounds of true adventure, LOAD is proud to bring you AIR CONDITIONING. This is the sound of the future, it would be wise to show up for this parade painted in your team's colors.

Monotract
Trueno Oscuro

Guitar drums and electronics lock together into a frightening miasma. Monotract have recorded a record so unreal that it warps reality unto itself. Their 2006 record on Ecstatic Peace, xprmntl lvrs, hinted at the form destruction that this record delivers in fucking spades. Songs exist as pure sine wave terror, like long taffy pulled by tractors miles apart. Nancy Garcia weaves a Spanglish tale of alluring fatality while Roger Rimada hits the drums that bubble under black hooded electronic oscillations emitted by Carlos Giffoni. Light bulbs explode, couch cushions swell, and nipples get hard. This is the new method, with new tools.

Monotract has existed since at least 1998 and has tons of other releases with three other full lengths as well as live records, tapes and 7 inches. They have moved all over the Eastern US seaboard from Miami to their current base in New York. Band member Carlos Giffoni is astoundingly active, booking the NO FUN FEST (LOAD 087 Fun From None: No Fun Fest 2004/2005), a yearly summit of the best minds of the current noise scene, held in New York.

Raw and powerful, this album features exquisite performances from Mavis along with stellar backing from Ry Cooder, Mike Elizando, and Jim Keltner. Background vocals are provided by Ladysmith Black Mambazo as well as original members of the SNCC Freedom Singers. The Young Gods
Super Ready/Fragmente

Swiss legends, The Young Gods (a band often referred as a direct influence to Nine Inch Nails) are back with a Brand New album, Super Ready / Fragmenté, a great return from one of the true pioneers of Industrial sounds. Super Ready / Fragmenté, allies power and subtlety in an unprecedented manner, confirming that the Young Gods are more than ever in tune with their times. Adventurers, pioneers and mad scientists, the Young Gods are still an essential reference in today's music. Mike Patton, The Chemical Brothers, Maynard James Keenan (Tool) and The Edge (U2), all claim the heritage of the young Helvetian gods.

Super Ready / Fragmenté is a major album. It conveys urgency and unrest, and makes for venomous, troubling and passionate listening.
