How about King of the Hill? That show's been missing for ages, and I'm going crazy waiting for the DVDs to come out. I wish Ten bought the rights to it, they can make the show more popular here like they did with Futurama.

It's true KOTH has been off air a long time, but there are far too many shows that have not had all seasons aired in Oz. I'm actually looking to archive shows that have unfinished seasons, ie. pulled off mid-season, as an unsubtle reminder to Programmers that we are waiting for conclusions to the shows they asked us to commit to.

To be honest KOTH was so long ago even I can't remember if it played out a full season. As a fan you may be able to clarify?

Sillygostly said...

I have no idea. The only time I ever watched KOTH was when I had Foxtel for a brief period around 4 years ago, and I only watched around 2-3 episodes from season 3.

When they FINALLY started to release the DVDs in Australia, I gave the first season a go, and I've been a die-hard fan ever since.

So no, I have no idea if Seven ever played out a whole season of the show. I remember around 18 months or so ago, Seven played it at 3.00pm weekdays, but I wasn't home to watch it, or I'd completely forget about it, since I wasn't really a fan of the show at the time, and I only would have watched out of curiosity.

And even further back, when Seven had the rights to Futurama, they played it back-to-back with King of the Hill at around midnight once a week. And I think Family Guy was thrown in there too.

I understand there are a lot of unaired shows out there, but all I'm asking is for Seven to play KOTH at ANY timeslot. I reckon 11.00pm Thursdays after (or before) FG would be great, or if they play it on weekends where most shows don't rate that well anyway. Or they can play it on Saturday mornings after all that Disney crap.

I have just heard that 10 will be showing the 4400 from saturday mornings starting on the 31st at wait for it 4am. Ridiculous if i say so myself it was sunday nights at 11:30 but this is ridiculous

David Knox said...

You are indeed correct! It's such a lame timeslot I nearly missed it in the upcoming Ten guide.

What are they thinking?

Anonymous said...

Channel 9 are the worst culprits. They stuffed around with another favourite of mine, Everwood.

Anonymous said...

What about E-Ring?

what about living with fran?

David, it is funny how nine has no timeslot for nip/tuck, but has time to show snip/tuck - miami (a reality show following 2 miami plastic surgeons) at 10.30 on monday nights...!!!

David Knox said...

Absolutely! A point I also madewhen Snip and Tuck was announced.

what about Farscape? We never saw the final season of that did we? and we haven't seen The Peacekeeper Wars either.

I'm still waiting for the return of Judging Amy and The Gilmore Girls

As you suggest Shows being incomplete well here is one for you "Criminal Minds". Seven didnt complete the first season their were 2 or 3 episodes to go. I realise this show will be back in a 8:30pm slot on 7 later in the year but this show is missing in action as it was incomplete, i want to see the final few episodes

Anonymous said...

Well Bones can now be added to this list. As i am truly annoyed they give us a double episode and then at the end say "Bones will return later in '07" Well this show can now be added to this list. In a sense though for this to be sevens first casualty of the season its not that bad

Joey was never shown in full, was it? They showed the first 10 episodes or so, but then it was taken off and Season 2 never saw the light of day here.

Anonymous said...

The remainder of season 1 of Joey has been shown, as well as one or two episodes of season 2 (weekday mornings, I think).

Anonymous said...

And what about One Tree Hill? Ten has yet to play a whole season of the series and this curse is taking too long, it better return soon.

Anonymous said...

I completely missed "Joey" on weekday mornings! I guess it ventured into "Reba" and "Faith and Hope" territory (i.e. US sitcoms that could never make it in prime time). If only a couple of Season 2 episodes were shown, then it definitely belongs in the MIA box :-). Thanks for the info!

David Knox said...

I've added Joey for now, but may think about pulling shows that are actually out of production. I'm more concerned with shows that Aussie networks have pulled when US networks have delivered.

Further to a question on Farscape, I've checked and Nine screened to "Dog with Two Bones" in Jan 2006 as the end of season three, then began repeats from season one again. Although it has yet to air season 4 it doesn't quite fit being missing in action.

I think a lot of these shows will return later in the year (around June-August). If not, they'll probably return in the 2007-08 non-ratings period.

To one of the anonymous users, OTH is unlikely to return on TEN due to dismal ratings. When they last played it on primetime (on a 6.30pm Saturday slot), its ratings were abysmal, and it only pull around 200,000 viewers.

To meet the demands of fans, TEN continued to play the show (irregularly) at noon on Saturdays, however it was pulled from the schedule again.

TEN have absolutely nothing to gain from OTH, which is probably too expensive to play (most likely due to music clearances), so I can't see it returning anytime soon. Consider buying the DVDs, or watch it on Foxtel.

They last showed Joey, during the xams period of 2005/06, as a replacement for A Current affair while it was on a 3 week break. because of the timeslot though they cut a lot of what could have been funny lines. as has been said the last we saw, were the first few eps of season two, but they were shown at 6.30 pm not in the morning.

Anonymous said...

David, a fair comment about "Joey"!

I travel to Italy each year for work in December/January, so that explains why I missed the rest of "Joey". I bought the Season 1 DVD, but have yet to see Season 2 on sale.

Speaking of DVDs, has anyone seen any for "Will and Grace"?? I was sure they were released, but there's not a trace of them in this country.

Anonymous said...

I am annoyed that Seven are not screening the 10th and final season of Stargate SG-1. The longer they delay it the longer the 2 direct to DVD movies being made are probably going to be delayed here!

Anonymous said...

Veronica Mars has become another victim to this, thanks to BIG FREAKING BROTHER of all shows. Isn't 17 hours of it a week enough? Do we need more?

Rayne said...

What about the third series of The L Word? Seven showed the second series over a year ago :(

David Knox said...

Just archiving shows pulled off mid-season here. there are too many shows That haven't had all seasons aired. This is my "you started it, you finish it" reminder!

Anonymous said...

Sorry if this was mentioned elsewhere, even though the season I am speaking about(season 5)is now out on dvd, what is nine going to do with the last 5 episodes of season 5 of Curb Your Enthusiasm(a show nine has not treated too well) It is getting up towards 8 months since they last showed it(Sept or Oct 2006).
Are they ever going to show the last 5 episodes of season 5(I believe there is going to be a 6th season of CYE, I would hate to imagine when nine would show this,if at all).

Greysfan said...

Hey,
Alias will finally be back on our screens Sunday June 17 at 10:30pm

David Knox said...

I'm more than aware of what's coming up... but I am also aware of observing media embargos. ;-)

Anonymous said...

Battlestar Galactica disappeared from channel 10 as well.

David Knox said...

Pretty sure you will find Battlestar played out a full season even if it was a deadzone timeslot.

Anonymous said...

Ummm, Song of Praise is back on the ABC.

So it should probably be removed form the list

Just to answer a question asked a while ago-KOTH is in fact still going strong in the US -it's up to season 11 at the moment.
I have pretty much given up hope that the aussie networks will get their act together-we get far too many unfinished show . A classic example to me was the West Wing I started buying the overseas DVDs after Nine stopped screeing it & Warners decided not to release anymore DVDs after Season 5 . It was good to see that ABC at least completed screening the show.

Anonymous said...

Veronica Mars was pulled off air a few episodes after the beginning of season three. Instead, they play Big Brother, Jericho and a repeated movie everyone's seen a thousand times already! When's it coming back? If it IS coming back considering it was cancelled in the US. Grrr!

Sillygostly said...

I wish everybody would stop whinging about Veronica Mars. It WILL be back. Just five it another month or two when Big Brother finishes. I can understand why TEN would play Up-late in favour of Veronica Mars as it's a LOT cheaper to produce, and it probably rates higher too. And I have no doubt in my mind that TEN will bring it back after Big Brother to Fridays. It's the only timeslot where it can pull decent ratings (where it rates at around 400,000).

And I'm completely aware that KOTH has survived 11 seasons, and I couldn't be happier. I just watched the first two episodes of season 11 (and I've downloaded the next 3), and coming from somebody who has only seen a couple of episodes from seasons 4-10, I'm thrilled that the show is still going strong after all these years. The first couple of season 11 eps weren't nearly as funny as some of the earlier eps, but they were still really entertaining, and they had their fair share of laughs. Long live the King! :D Can't wait for season 4 which will be released this coming Wednesday. w00t w00t :D

It's about time Ten brought back The Office. They should play it after Rove instead of reruns of the dreadfully unfunny Real Stories.

Everybody Hates Chris and Monk should be added to the list. And whatever happened to Headland?

Anonymous said...

i miss monk.....
but what i really hate is the fact that my name is earl episodes are shown out of order!!! if seven can play how i met your mother in the right order why not earl?

Sillygostly said...

I believe some episodes of My Name Is Earl are M rated, so Seven are probably having trouble trying to find those episodes a suitable timeslot, although I could be wrong as I don't watch the show.

Headland was cancelled AGES ago, and Seven had never gotten around to airing the remaining episodes of the series, although I've heard that the series has aired in its entirety in the UK.

I think Everybody Hates Chris is being saved for the summer non-ratings period, but we'll see how it pans out. Either way, the first season will be released on DVD soon if you want to check it out.

I want to see the rest of 7th Heaven! I'm pretty sure they were a few eps into the 11th season when it was taken off earlier this year.
I also want to see Judging Amy.

i really love smallville and veronica mars and one tree hill!
damn TEN they got rid of everything!

You know what the best show ever was? The Shield. It beats crap like Law and Order any day. That was real entertainment.

Bbox said...

Is The Wedge gone from 10 on Sunday nights? We spoke with Katrina Mathers after the first episode aired, who told us the later timeslot was sprung on them a bit, not long before the season started.

Of course, it was the 14-year-olds who were sustaining the ratings in the previous season, who may have been precluded from viewing after Rove on Sundays - starting anywhere after 9:40pm (later with Idol on).

David Knox said...

The Wedge is back Sun 16 10:25pm.

ka-ching said...

Looking at the number of shows that have been put back on the shelf we could have a another tv station just to show these. My bet is they would rate through the roof. Perhaps Y&R; and The Apprentice could be recalled from Foxtel too.

I just wonder how sensitive they are to ratings these days. By that I mean, how long do they give a show in its current series before they panic and pull it off the air if no. of viewers drop SLIGHTLY. In general, people lead muchbusier lives these days. It is not uncommon for us to be out and record our favourite shows - which of course don't impact on ratings because you can FF throught he ads.

Surely they need to revamp the technology used to collect ratings data and adjust thir expectations.

Dave Dave Dave!! any word on 7th Heaven that got cut off half way through the final season...and also the new Amazing Race??
Thanks

David Knox said...

No to both sorry.

Two people told me separately today that they had heard that ER was coming back next week. They sounded quite confident and had heard or read it somewhere.

Any news?

David Knox said...

Sorry not a word here...

Justice won't return because it was axed in the US during 2006. Even though Channel 9 would have some unaired episodes, it won't return, so it may as well be taken off this page. Just like Ted Danson's Help Me Help You which suffered the same fate. Hyped up by the Australian networks and then disappeared because of US axing.

The only thing worth watching on TV on a Tuesday night is Crime Investigation Australia which by the way has rated it's backside off for the network and now some idiot has apparantly decided to pull the show next week in favour of 'another' overseas production...WHAT IN GODS NAME ARE THEY THINKING!!!!!
