BB: 2 more leaving?

Consider this only early speculation, but there could be another Double Eviction coming in Big Brother, Sunday fortnight.

Rove will start at 9pm on Sunday 24th June, suggesting that BB has some extra tricks up his sleeve.

Curiously, BB isn't even considered a weekly highlight by TEN.

As TEN struggles to keep interest in the show afloat, there is also a 1 hr daily edition of BB on Wednesday June 13 (after the network cancelled Biggest Loser: Restaurant v Restaurant) and a special scheduled on Wednesday 20th.

Stay tuned for further news in our Big Brother Watch.

Corbys sue over TT

The Corby clan is suing the Seven Network for defamation over its stories earlier this year.

In the Today Tonight story, Seven's interview with former Corby friend Jodie Power alleged that mother Rosleigh Rose and daughter Mercedes had previously dabbled in drugs.

When the case came before the NSW Supreme Court today, Seven's lawyers had opted to have the case heard before a jury.

Seven's story delivered the network booming figures as it relaunched TT with Anna Coren. Nine's A Current Affair, which has a long history with Schapelle Corby interviews, fired back with claims Seven's private investigator had lied to secure follow up stories.

WIN win on STW Perth

Sunraysia shareholders have voted to sell Channel Nine Perth to WIN Television over PBL Media.

The $163m bid from Bruce Gordon's WIN was higher than PBL's $136m.

The successful acquisition for WIN follows it recently picking up Channel Nine Adelaide.

PBL will now own Nine on the east coast, which is a strategic problem for the company which recently saw shares go to CVC Civic Partners.

There is talk in the industry that CVC may not stay in the game too long, streamlining the company and selling it off at a profit.

Meanwhile Nine's poor ratings figures in Perth continue to reflect badly on the PBL stations, dragging down key programmes such as News and A Current Affair.

WIN is certainly building a formidable regional super-network.

Isaiah fired!

Actor Isaiah Washington has been fired from Grey's Anatomy.

The move by producers follows widely-reported stories of Washington's conduct on-set in which he made homophobic slurs against co-star T.R. Knight.
The issue caused T.R. Knight to come out of the closet.

He also fought with Patrick Dempsey on set.

An insider told TV Guide that Washington's troubles with the production extended back before this incident.

Despite his apology Washington later re-fuelled the fire with more comments at the Golden Globe Awards.

When the current series concluded, writers left a question mark hanging over his character's head.

As I've stated before, Washington's conduct was a major problem with the show's demographic of predominantly female viewers.

Sacking him is a statement that the show does not condone his homophobic behaviour.

Jericho resurrected

In an unusual industry turnaround, previously axed drama, Jericho has been given a reprieve.

Fans were furious with CBS for cancelling the drama, bombarding the internet with "Save Jericho" sites.

Using the show's phrase that Skeet Ulrich's character had gone "nuts" they even bombarded network offices with 20 tonnes of nuts. They flooded the cell phone of CBS execs forcing them to change numbers.

CBS has responded by renewing the series for 7 mid-season eps.

It's not the first time fans have altered the outcome of a show's future. Baywatch, Fame and Family Guy all had post-axe renewals.

All eyes now on TEN who were due to screen an episode tonight but pulled the show earlier this week.

Paris out

Gee, I wouldn't mind being confined to the Hilton Mansion for 40 days.

3 days of incarceration for Paris and that's it? Only in America.

She should never have been jailed in the first place (only because it should never have gotten this far... they're only unpaid fines, what a waste of government expense!), but once the time was dished out it should have been spent.

In the US all of this will simply elevate her celebrity status and allow the star of The Simple Life to command even bigger fees.

Chuck her at Judge Judy, she'd sort her out quick smart.

UPDATE: An angry judge orders Paris back to court to explain herself (3am AEST).
