[ABC/10:00pm] Dance on Screen. Hosted by former Bangarra dancer and choreographer, Frances Rings, Dance on Screen - a two-part special - celebrates the wonderful world of dance. SWIFT. Swift is a powerful adaptation of dancer/choreographer Ros Warby's internationally acclaimed solo show of the same name. Filmed on an empty stage, Swift tells its story through fanciful characterisations, choreography and music. Through a series of vignettes the solo dancer transforms herself from the red runner, to the silent dancer, to diva, gremlin, innocent realist and finally, to gentle diva and aging woman. UNFED. Unfed will appeal to anyone who has ever lived in a share house. Inspired by a line from writer George Eliot - 'the painful eagerness of unfed hope' - director Jason Lam films his young dancers in the cramped confines of their bedrooms. Through the use of a split screen, Lam magnifies each character's frustration and alienation, as they struggle with being alone, in a house full of people. TRUST AND TRY! This playful film is inspired by vaudeville and the silent movie era. Choreographer and director Julie-Anne Long challenged her performers to invent little burlesque vignettes that were then filmed by co-director Samuel James in the grainy black and white of early cinema. Julie-Anne Long, a Sydney-based dance artist, has worked over the past two decades as a performer, choreographer and teacher.
