ABC and TEN up in eye of the storm

It was mixed fortunes for Week 14 as networks juggled repeats and new episodes in the first of two non-ratings weeks.

Seven had 28.7% to Nine's 25.6% and TEN's 23.4%. The ABC had 16.5% and SBS 5.8%. The return of Rove was the top show of the week with his biggest ever audience 1.69m.

Seven's Dancing with the Stars special was its top show with 1.58m and it gave All Saints another big crowd of 1.53m. But a new episode of Heroes saw no lift, stuck on 1.12m. Instead it was beaten by a repeat of House and The Chaser both on 1.24m.

For Nine the only good news was on Sunday with its News 1.5m and the final FINA Swimming, 1.4m. The worst news was the poor debut of I Shouldn't Be Alive.

Rove helped TEN lift its weekly share, as did The Biggest Loser (Weigh in 1.5m). With just one more episode to go The Con Test has also been rising, now at 930,000.

But it's the ABC who will be smiling with a second week rise for The Chaser. In it's new Wednesday timeslot, the show is booming alongside Spicks and Specks.
But without all new shows, it's a week of unfair comparisons. Ratings resume Sunday April 15.

24's Chloe in Star Trek?

Do my eyes deceive me? Could this really be Mary Lynne Rajskub, 24's Chloe O'Brian, in an episode of Star Trek?

This episode is circa 1966!

But the likeness with actress Grace Lee Whitney is uncanny. I guess it could explain how Chloe is such an IT whiz!

Sunrise in Anzac battle

The Seven Network has today denied a newspaper report which says Sunrise is planning to stage a dawn service from Long Tan, Vietnam earlier than dawn in order to screen in a peak morning timeslot of 7:15am.

According to the Sunday Telegraph, Opposition Leader Kevin Rudd was discussing participating in a "fake" 4.15am service with David Koch to coincide with Sunrise's peak audience. Key Vietnam veteran groups were said to be outraged adding, "there is only one dawn."

Seven today denied the claims stating it has already committed to a service from Elephant Rock, Currimbin Beach Queensland, live, commercial free and with the support of the RSL.

Producer Adam Boland said, "It is true Sunrise was considering a live broadcast from Long Tan as part of our Anzac Day coverage. We met veterans who wanted us there as a way of highlighting the sacrifices made at Long Tan. All options were explored by producers - but it was never the show's position to move the official service."

Statement from Adam Boland, Sunrise Executive Producer :

"Sunrise has NO plans to broadcast any dawn service from Vietnam. We're already committed to broadcasting the Elephant Rock service from Currumbin Beach on the Gold Coast. These plans were locked in well before the paper went to print. Sunrise will be broadcasting the Currumbin service fully commercial free and with the full support of the RSL.

It is true Sunrise was considering a live broadcast from Long Tan as part of our Anzac Day coverage. We met Vietnam veterans who wanted us there as a way of highlighting the sacrifices made at Long Tan.

All options were explored by producers - but it was never the show's position to move the official service.

Instead, we were planning an entirely separate tribute put together by the same group of Vietnam veterans we'd been meeting. These much smaller tributes are apparently held year round at Long Tan - and aren't staged for cameras.

In any event, as was explained to the Sunday Telegraph, it's unlikely the project will go ahead this year because of logistical and cost obstacles."
