Ten eyes winning week

TEN has again scheduled the finale of The Biggest Loser in the same week that Big Brother will start: from April 22.

Last year in the simultaneous week, TEN won its first week of national ratings in 12 years. Buoyed by The Biggest Loser, Big Brother, House and Thank God You're Here it managed a 27.3% share to Seven's 27.1%. Nine had 26.9%.

But this year TEN does not have the added luxury of Thank God You're Here. Instead the Wednesday slot will screen Big Brother from 7 - 8 pm, a Simpsons repeat and new House. Medium will also be replaced by a special about organ donation: The Ultimate Gift.

Bondi Rescue is also absent which has been a strong performer for TEN.

In the same week, Jericho returns to TEN at 9:30pm on Fridays, but this is considered a low-key slot in keeping with the show's modest ratings.

If TEN is to win the week this year much will rely on interest and stunts in Big Brother.

April 23 - 29 2006
1 The Biggest Loser – Final Episode, 10 2,310
2 Dancing With The Stars 4, 7 2,215
3 Big Brother – Launch Episode (Sunday), 10 1,800
4 Thank God You're Here, 10 1,743
5 The Biggest Loser - Sunday, 10 1,667
6 Desperate Housewives, 7 1,590
7 National Nine News - Sunday, 9 1,587
8 House, 10 1,583
9 All Saints, 7 1,564
10 CSI: Crime Scene Investigation - Sunday, 9 1,538

Dr Phil moves office

Nine's final episode of Dr Phil will air on Friday April 28.

Under TEN's new deal with CBS, he will then be seen on its network, and according to the website it has already designed, it will air in the same timeslot as it has on Nine: 12pm Monday - Friday.

Given Charmed is finishing its run on Thursday April 27 this would suggest Phil will likely take up residence on air with TEN from Monday April 30 (or possibly Tue if contracts mean it is legally owned by TEN from May).

No word yet on what Nine will air in its place, but doubtless thousands will be asking why it was necessary to lose The Young and the Restless when Dr Phil was already moving out too.

TEN will screen a repeat of Queer Eye on Friday April 28.
