Incentives

Louisiana has an exceptionally aggressive package of incentives designed to enhance the profitability and production capacity of companies deciding to locate segments of their operations within the state. Louisiana's package of incentives for business includes:

  • Property tax abatements for manufacturing facilities,

  • Sales tax rebates and income tax credits for companies locating in, and hiring from, enterprise zones,

  • A Freeport Law for goods in transit,

  • A 100% refundable inventory tax credit and

  • An extremely flexible employee training program

Foreign Trade Zone 124

The Port of South Louisiana serves as grantee of Foreign Trade Zone 124. The zone consists of one (1) General Purpose Sites totaling 1,218 acres within the Port’s jurisdiction, which encompasses 54 miles of the Mississippi River. Additionally, there are nine sub-zones included under FTZ 124: North American Shipbuilding, Valero, Motiva Enterprise - Convent, Louisiana Offshore Oil Port (LOOP), Marathon Ashland, Motiva Enterprise - Norco, Bollinger Shipyards, J. Ray McDermott and Ergon - St. James.
