Partners for Educational Excellence
Excellence in athletics is a proud tradition at Jesuit High School. The school has been recognized for this continued excellence numerous times on the local, state, and national levels.
The students and coaches that make up Jesuit's athletic department are dedicated to sportsmanship, fair play, and continuing this excellence each year. As each senior class graduates, the honor of defending Jesuit's legacy falls to the next in line, and for the last 107 years these young men have been more than ready to carry the torch.
Jesuit athletics allow for the complete development of the Jesuit student. Learning to balance schoolwork, community service, and team obligations allows student-athletes to explore and showcase all areas of their God-given talent, along with helping to form them into well-rounded and responsible young men. The athletic department also embraces the concept of “men for others,” as many teams serve the community together, building team camaraderie and individual character simultaneously.
Jesuit has teams in 11 sanctioned Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) sports. As a member of this organization, Jesuit abides by all rules and to the policies set forth by the FHSAA and its board of directors.
All students are encouraged to participate in Jesuit’s athletic program. If they don’t want to play, there is also a support staff program, allowing students to be a part of the team as everything from managers and trainers to announcers, timekeepers, and scorekeepers.
Athletic competition is an extension of the classroom and an excellent opportunity to learn life lessons. In the words of the famous Vince Lombardi, “the spirit, the will to win, and the will to excel are the things that endure. These qualities are so much more important than the events that occur."
