H. Ross Perot congratulated local leaders Friday for the strides Texarkana Independent School District has made to prepare students in engineering and science.

�What you are doing is wonderful,� Perot said Friday during a luncheon as he accepted the 2009 TISD Distinguished Alumni Award. Also, the high school�s ninth grade science, technology, engineering and math academy was officially renamed after him. It is now called the Ross Perot STEM Academy at Texas High School.
