Well, that didn't take very long. Turns out New York's Subway Cyrano, Patrick Moberg, has found his lady love. Or rather, Blackbook outed her as one of their very own interns. Patrick apparently got a tip from a friend of hers prior to that, and updated his website with a big 'ol "FOUND HER!" illustration. Sandwiched between Park Slope and Gowanus, along 4th Avenue, the Sheep Station bills itself as an Australian restaurant even if the bar seems to get the most attention. It has none of the kitschy video games, dated beer posters, or anything really that might muck up its design. It’s all straight lines and clean surfaces, and in that respect feels a little like Gothamist favorite Bocco Lupo in Cobble Hill. Like that enticing wine bar, massive windows seemed carved out the brick, making it feel vibrant, open, and engaging. Even if that means it isn’t overlooking quiet tree-lined streets, and instead a busy boulevard, directly cater-corner to a BP gas station. The experiment goes awry of course, and what comes out is a melding of these two stalwarts of American comfort food. Behold the meat pie. In fact, the meat pie is not a Frankenstein amalgamation, but a favorite snack from Australia. Gothamist's favorite drunk columnist, the New York Post's Steve Dunleavy, was pickpocketed last night. According to Newsday, he admitted being "very drunk... .comatose." Ah, just the way we like that bombastic Aussie. Dunleavy claims he "kicked the guy in the ass" but it was the police who later arrested the men. more ›
