Yesterday, a 55-year-old NJ man who works as a security guard at Newark Liberty International Airport was arrested for allegedly making threats to President Obama. The Star-Ledger reports that two airport workers notified the authorities after John Brek, employed by a private company, apparently "made about Obama on Tuesday afternoon" which then led to a "predawn raid yesterday" at Brek's Linden home.

The Port Authority says the authorities found 43 guns, though none appeared to be illegally obtained thus far. The Secret Service did not disclose the kind of threats that Brek allegedly made, but did say, "We get scores of these every day. This is not uncommon." However, what made things a little more uncommon was the fact that Obama was in NYC on Tuesday and NJ yesterday.

Brek, who is being held on $100,00 bail, has denied making any threats. His landlord Leonard Parsons told WCBS 2, "He's very upset with the country, with the way it's going and I'm upset about it, too." Parsons, who noted that Brek's door had an American flag and a "God Bless America" sign, also said, "I go to these different clubs and they criticize Bush. They say they'd like to kill him and this and that," with wife Minnie adding, "If you don't hear the situation, it could be twisted, too."

hahaa,
sounds fishy.
Predawn raid based on something 'overheard' at work.

looking forward to the details...
Making terroristic threats is not a federal charge but a local one filed by the Port Authority. So far the agency has not explained exactly what Brek said but we should hear details during Thursday's arraignment.

"43 Guns Found At His NJ Home" is also funny.
Since they were reportedly all legally registered,
it should really say confirmation of 43 legally owned firearms was made during the search.

when you register your firearms and own them legally,
there usually is no 'discovery" since the definition of registering a legally owned firearm is da gubment knows you own them.

Where can i send my donation to his defense fund?

If the feds aren't going to pursue this, the charges will may be dropped, but he will be sanctioned somehow. I had no idea it was against state law though.

However, ge should've kept his big mouth shut. Freedom of speech is not absolute, and even joking about making threats to the President, regardless of who is in office, are taken seriously.

The Secret Service doesn't take that kind of shit lightly.

New McCarthyism?

Lesson, if you own a gun, keep your mouth shut.

"Parsons ... noted that Brek's door had an American flag and a "God Bless America" sign"

oh good.

How far does Limbaugh have to push the line until they raid his house?

My bet is that he (Rush)has spread more hate toward the POTUS than this bozo from NJ.

I don't think Limbaugh has ever threatened the President with physical harm, YET.

If he does, we all know what will happen to him.

guy should of known better, who mostly works at airports? AA they love Obama. They pray for his safety etc.... stupid guy.

Americans shouldnt have to keep their mouths shut even if they work at airports, this arrest is based on OVERHEARD conversation,,,bail at 100K?

I think the Nazi's had treated people who spoke out against Hitler much better.
At least Goebbels would have explained what the charges were based on...

Wow, that was really a "best of..."

Couldn't work Pol Pot or "jack-booted thugs" in there anywhere?

what's the point of registering guns, if they don't know who has them?

It's most likley they knew he had guns. That may be the reason they took his particular threat more seriously.

Guy makes threat. SS looks him up and sees he wons multiple firearms. They then take his threat more seriously and raid his home to see what ELSE he might have.

Oh yeah...

The wifebeater mug shot is hilarious!!!

He knows that any applicant for presidential assasin who fails to dress professionally always gets an interview.
