Loza was indicted on bribery charges last fall after he allegedly accepted $1,500 in cash and other favors and trips from a taxicab lobbyist. No word yet on what the new charges might look like, just that we should expect them in the "next two to four weeks." more ›

P Street Whole Foods Plans to Close an Hour Early Tonight

We heard through the DCist tipline that the P Street Whole Foods in Logan Circle was planning to close an hour early tonight. Given that this is the eve of what is looking like the biggest snow storm Washington has seen in a long time, this merited a phone call. And a customer service rep confirmed that, indeed, the Whole Foods is closing at 9:30 p.m., instead of its usual 10:30, due to an ill-timed staff meeting. You'd think the store's manager might want to reschedule this meeting until next week, under the circumstances.

Well, it was a good run while it lasted, but today our beloved Butterstick will get overnighted to his new home in China. (Don't worry, we've got word that they got delivery confirmation and insurance.) The Post has got a handy guide detailing the process of getting Butterstick to the airport, and yes, it even includes a police motorcade. Our own Sommer Mathis is live-tweeting the whole thing. Safe travels, 'stick. China might have you now, but we know you'll find your way home again. more ›

What a bummer night for the ballin' Georges: Georgetown was undone after South Florida and Dominique Jones (29 points) used a 30-9 run to claim victory 72-64, George Mason lost a surprising one against Georgia State to fall into a three-way tie at the top of the CAA and George Washington blew a lead and fell to Charlotte. But on the bright side, D.C. United released its 2010 schedule and traded for D.C.-born and Virginia-bred striker Adam Cristman. Let's see...what else? more ›

  • The woman who was behind the wheel in that double fatal collision in Prince George's County on Monday night had two prior arrests for DUIs, WTTG/FOX5 reports, and had a blood alcohol content of "more than twice the legal limit" at the time of the crash. Still no charges have been filed against her.
  • Via Greater Greater Washington, DDOT is working to clarify the rules regarding whether you have to fold strollers up on the Circulator. For the time being, unfolded strollers will be allowed "while they formulate a more detailed policy."
  • Two words: Superbowl cupcakes.
