We all love Jersey Shore... but do we love it enough to see it naked? Well, ready or not, 27-year-old cast member Pauly D is ready to take it all off — in fact, he's meeting with Playgirl magazine this week to discuss money, and promised to go full-frontal (showing off his pierced manhood). He told E! Online: "I'm not shy." Well look at you. The reality star also commented on advertisers being scared off by the controversy surrounding the show, saying, "If I were an advertiser, I'd want to advertise during the show. It's almost like advertising on the Super Bowl." You know what they say about men with big egos... more ›

Demonstrators have promised to ride bikes down Bedford Avenue naked this evening to protest the recent removal of a bicycle lane amidst mounting pressure from South Williamsburg's Hasidic community. But will the so-called "Freedom Ride" actually happen? more ›

An unidentified male cop in the notorious Brooklyn South Narcotics unit allegedly took personal photos of a female drug suspect during multiple, unauthorized strip searches. Claudia Bova, 23, was arrested in a Coney Island drug sweep in June 2007, and taken to a building in downtown Brooklyn for booking. The officer allegedly told Bova he would have to perform a body search because there were no female officers available, in violation of an NYPD policy prohibiting cross-gender searches. Bova claims he led her to the bathroom and ordered her to lift up her shirt, "shake out her bra" and pull down her pants, according to court papers obtained by the Daily News. But it didn't end there! more ›

After a demonstration last weekend drew more police officers than protesters, cycling activists will rally again to show their support for the Bedford Avenue bike lane — but this time they'll do it in less clothing. more ›

So, this guy is running around town with nothing but a well-placed fanny pack. Little is known about the mysterious ("world's fastest") nudist, but FreeWilliamsburg points out that he is making a documentary (that will hopefully never hit the big screen). He also updates daily on his Twitter and website the Daily Nude, so you can appropriately avoid or stalk him. more ›

"A woman standing on a Manhattan subway platform with her pants down bit a New York City police officer in the back, police said Thursday." more ›

This just in: people are still showing off their naughty bits at the Standard. Last week a reader spotted some flesh at the hotel, just two minutes in to a walk on the High Line. They ask: "Guy or girl?" more ›

Would you get naked for all of New York? Time Out NY got 7 locals to take it off, and now 32 more want to do it. You can vote online, but wouldn't you be a little freaked out to see that your 41-year-old anesthesiologist has a hankering to strip down and hook himself up to a Propofol drip? more ›

After a week of hearing all about these exhibitionists at the Standard Hotel, someone has finally sent us an image. See a much larger version here, and try to guess what's actually happening in this hotel room. Or don't. As Vanishing NY points out, city living has always offered glimpses into stranger's lives; two years ago HBO projected this on the side of a LES building, and before that we had films like Rear Window. The site points out that the Standard's management has created the dullest version of a voyeuristic experience, and "In his direction, the luxury hotelier lacks the depth and nuance of Hitchcock." It's true, but what does one expect from André Balazs? Maybe the residents at the Hotel Chelsea should create an artier version of this. more ›

Zach Hyman's latest nude subject is stealing the headlines from him. Today the NY Post talks to the 26-year-old Kathleen Neill, who was charged with public lewdness when she stripped down in the Metropolitan Museum's Hall of Arms and Armor. She wants the prudes in this town to lighten up, and told the paper, "I want people to have the freedom to express themselves. I want the city to drop the charges. I would love to be able to go to museums and see stuff like this happen on any scale." Since it's already legal for women to walk around topless in New York, maybe next year's topless march should focus on the full monty. more ›

Not too long ago there was some pole dancing for arts sake on the L train. Well, yesterday photographer Zach Hyman (he's like the one-model-at-a-time version of Spencer Tunick) brought his nude subject to a museum. Surprisingly, it seems the MTA is cooler with the naked human form than the Met is! more ›

The naked truth about the Standard Hotel originally broke on Curbed in early July, and now it's made it all the way to the desk of Brian Williams after getting daily coverage in the New York papers this week. more ›

The Standard is casting more than just a shadow over the High Line, its guests are giving park-goers a full-on peep show. The NY Post reports that many go beyond showing off their naughty bits to passerby—they also have sex, masturbate and even film professional pornos. Heavens to Murgatroyd! Who will save the children? Not hotel management. more ›

The Bronx man who was arrested Tuesday after going full monty during a flight bound from Charlotte to L.A. wasn't doing it to freak out the squares; he happens to be bipolar. Authorities have identified the U.S. Airways passenger as Keith Wright, a Navy veteran, and his wife Debra tells the Daily News that Keith left their Bronx home Tuesday without telling her, after spending days not eating or sleeping: "When I came home from work he wasn't around. Next thing I know I get a call from a FBI officer. That is when I knew." more ›

An unidentified man from the boogie down Bronx just streaked half of America! The 50-year-old became naked as a jaybird for no apparent reason during a US Airways flight last night. One passenger says the 50-year-old appeared to fall asleep, but then started taking his clothes off. (Could a bad Ambien reaction be involved?) He refused to cooperate with flight attendants and threw off a blanket that was placed over him. Is it some kind of crime to fly au naturale? Probably, right? An off-duty police officer on board helped restrain the man, and the flight, which originated in Charlotte and was bound for LA, made a pit stop in Albuquerque to eject the mile-high streaker. WABC 7 says he may be transported "to an FBI facility. He will likely be taken to a local detention center in the meantime." Meanwhile, everyone who landed in California will be enjoying life naked in a hot tub. more ›

Okay, not really. But Flavorwire tagged along with Spencer Tunick to get a close-up look at the nakedest beach party in the Hamptons (surely it was fun getting all that sand off at the end of the day). The photographer set the scene for his latest nude project before dawn in Montauk, and the site reported back: "Tunick went through the setups he’d be arranging for the shoot, including a horrific-sounding pose called 'The Crab.' The group of 300 or so then trekked down to the beachfront, nestled between high cliffs and the picturesque Montauk Lighthouse, for more waiting. Once dawn arrived and the clouds broke, everyone stripped down and picked their way across the rocky beach to take position." And that's how the magic happens. more ›

Like the Facebook event page says: "Here it is finally. New York City will officially be joining in with thousands of cyclists around the world for the World Naked Bike Ride." Yes, finally. The event will take place with New York City’s inaugural nudist roll out (Critical Ass?). "Bicyclists in dozens of cities around the country and northern hemisphere will bicycle in the buff to 'stop indecent exposure to vehicle emissions.'" Now this is important: the ride begins at 5 p.m. at West 23rd Street between 11th and 12th Avenues, departure is around 6:30 p.m. on an, as of now, secret route (hopefully nowhere near South Williamsburg). No one will be excluded, there's been some mention of bodypaint. If you get photos, tag them with "Gothamist" on flickr! Or not! Use your best judgment, we can't decide. more ›

Last night, a man took of his clothes and streaked across Citi Field during the Mets-Braves game's fifth inning. This morning, the Post suggests it was "maybe the best base running of the night" while the Daily News identifies the "nearly-naked doofus" with "only a stuffed animal wrapped like a thong around the middle of his strike zone for modesty" as Craig Coakley. more ›

Move over Naked Cowboy! Brooklyn darlings Matt & Kim gave the entertainer a run for his money by stripping all the way down while shooting their new video in Times Square. The 20-somethings released their "Lessons Learned" video last week, where you can see them shed their clothes and catch the eyes of locals and tourists alike. (The naughty bits are blurred out, so it's SFW, prudes.) more ›

We've already seen the Borat speedo marathon get up--but a new video shows Steve Guttenberg, of Police Academy fame, upping the ante in revealing running gear. NYMag notes that he's "clearly in on the gag," but 1 minute and 44 seconds of a pantless Guttenberg running and stretching in Central Park is the end result none-the-less (consider that a warning). more ›

There'll be an opening reception tomorrow night (at 7:55 p.m.) for photographer Miru Kim's Naked City Spleen show at Gestarc Gallery in Red Hook. The work is part of Kim's ongoing series of photographs that depict her nakedly exploring abandoned subway stations, tunnels, sewers, and even the now-demolished sugar refinery in Red Hook. Now all she needs is a shot of herself in the IKEA cafeteria. more ›

Spencer Tunick and a crowd of volunteer naked people brazenly defied the dress code at the Four Seasons restaurant last Saturday for Tunick’s 75th installation documenting the human form in unexpected places. Other New York locations where Tunick's models have gone au naturale include Grand Central Station and Times Square. more ›

Times Square fixture The Naked Cowboy (Robert Burck) is singing a litigious song these days against Mars Inc., maker of M&M; candies. He is claiming that the company is infringing on his trademark, i.e. singing in tighty-whities, cowboy boots and a Stetson, with a six string slung on his shoulder. Burck wants $6 million after the company started broadcasting a film on a billboard screen in Times Square showing anthropomorphic M&Ms; re-enacting famous scenes, structures, and places around NYC. A blue peanut M&M; is shown in briefs, boots, a hat, and strumming a guitar while singing in Times Square. more ›

FOOD: Those with a taste for expensive ham and the means to pay for it will be tantalized by tonight’s one-night-only 5 course tasting menu at Suba, a Spanish restaurant on the Lower East Side. Chef Seamus Mullen has obtained the prized “Rolls Royce of Ham” – Jamón Ibérico – and will be offering it tonight with Ossabaw Island hogs and Iberian wine. There are just a few seatings still available for tonight's event, which will also feature a winter salad with raw artichokes and pine mushrooms and a gnocchi dish with littleneck clams, among other delicacies. If the $110 price tag seems steep for the tasting menu and wine pairings, just think: The first shipments of ibérico ham that arrived last month after USDA restrictions were lifted cost $90-$99 a pound at Despaña. – John Del Signore more ›

One very new New York resident has been given a crash course on city living. Kevin, the blogger at Naked Sponge, just moved here a week ago from Canada and he's already jumped into the subway tracks to save a life! Something that could possibly help him in his apartment hunt (nothing says "perfect tenant" like a Post headline calling you a hero). He explains his underground adventure:

See, I was waiting for the L train at 3rd Avenue just minding my own business when this lovely lady in her 50’s decides to peer down the track to see how far away the oncoming train is. You know the one I’m talking about; the one with the 6 foot drop from the platform that leads down to two metal rails? When all of a sudden… she falls over the edge. more ›

We checked in with some folks recently for a little end of '07 "exit interview" before we enter a new year. Next up is Nick Kroll, actor, caveman and one of our favorite comedians of '07...and probably '08. more ›

Naked Guy at Ted Leo Concert It's a tad early for year end awards, but this story is making a strong, late push for the greatest live moment of 2007. At the Ted Leo show at The Music Hall of Williamsburg Wednesday night, some dude from Jersey took off his shirt and threw it on the stage. Not satisfied with merely being topless in a crowd on that snowy night, he eventually followed the shirt... more ›

Author Norman Mailer passed away at Mt. Sinai Hospital this morning of renal failure. The deceased writer was the author of more than 30 books, from his debut "The Naked and The Dead," to others including "Armies of the Night," and "The Executioner's Song," for which he won a Pulitzer and the National Book Award, respectively. Mailer was known as much for his out-sized personality as for his writing. The New York Times waxes poetic... more ›

Just weeks after the New York Post milked a week's worth of coverage out of a 26-year-old's nude romp in the middle of the afternoon through Times Square, the paper heads back to the bare-naked well with yet another mentally disturbed male who wanted to lap the Square sans clothing. 44-year-old Antonia Alicata caught a Metro North train down to the city Thursday and then rode the subway to Times Square. Somewhere along the way, he shed his clothes and was caught on West 42nd St. by cops, as Alicata traversed the crossroads of the world without any clothes on. more ›
