Austinist Show Preview: Free Week Sunday

It’s possible you’ve been tricked into thinking Free Week at Emo’s cares not for days as fickle as Sunday, but, just in case, let’s clear things up: YES, Free Week rolls all the way through, with not a break to be seen. And not only that, but Sunday offers up some of the most compelling bands of the whole shebang, including noted acts Ume, 'Til We’re Blue or Destroy and that nature battle you’ve been dying to see: Bee vs. Moth.

In the lounge, the nine-strong 'Til We're Blue or Destroy aim to blend rock with electronics to sound like a mishmash of Broken Social Scene, MGMT, and something else we like but can't quite place, while The Noise Revival Orchestra Experience will play indie-inflected new-breed classical compositions. Also lounging around, Bee vs. Moth will confuse and delight with as many wordless genres as possible, and Benko will offer a new take on pop, swapping the standard six-string for a vibraphone.

Meanwhile, Emo’s Inside will be headlined by Ume, a female-fronted rock-punk outfit not afraid to thrash, and Red Leaves, whose guy-girl vocal interplay and nice bass raises their post-punk (and often Cure-like) banner. Opening up on the inside are the undeniably loud Sharks and Sailors and the all-girl rock-out, Follow That Bird!.

But while we’re inside, the band we’re especially curious to see is Denton act Tre Orsi, which not only features current and former members of Shearwater, South San Gabriel, and Okkervil River, but whose MySpace page describes their music as “Melodramatic Popular Song.” And if you can’t get excited about that, you can’t get excited about anything.

(Gotcha links to all the bands' doo-dads after the jump!)
