Listen to Cousin Lou complain about his goiter. Stare at Aunty Pearl as she licks the cat. But this year, break the cycle. You can start by going to a rap show!

We don't know what culinary genius came up with the idea for an Austin Chocolate Show and Competition, but we think they might need a big, wet kiss from Austinist. Not only is it an event devoted to chocolate, but it's free!

Spending Turkey Alone? Don’t like watching football all day while recovering from your turkey coma? Want, in a very peaceful way of course, George Bush to know what an asshole you think he is? Concerned about those extra two thousand calories of tryptophan-laced, gravy-smothered goodness you'll be ingesting tomorrow night? We certainly are. That's why we're considering taking part in tomorrow morning's Thundercloud Turkey Trot, a multi-distance race happening near downtown. Choose from the 5-mile run, 1-mile walk, or - if you're a kid - the "Stepping Stone School Kids [1]K." The race benefits Caritas of Austin, a local nonprofit that provides rent, utilities, food and support to people in need.

It is a Saturday at noon and we've got brunch on the brain. We thought we had made reseravtions for brunch. We said "brunch" but we know "brunch" sounds a lot like "lunch" and so brunch was in fact lunch as Moonshine Grill only does the brunch on Sundays. It was sooooo disappointing. We had perused the menu online before and the brunch buffet sounded so promising, so new, so yummy. We didn't want french fries and salad, we wanted waffles and Green Chile Cheese Grits. So, to be fair to Moonshine Grill, we were wanting brunch, not lunch, and this put us in a little bit of a bad mood.
