Yet another employee is suing the New York Post, accusing the editors and reporters at the tabloid of racist and sexual harassment. You'll recall that former editor Sandra Guzman filed a discrimination lawsuit in November, describing the Post newsroom as a male-dominated frat house run by the crude, misogynistic editor in chief Col Allan. (Among other things, Guzman claims they fired her in retaliation after she complained about a controversial political cartoon.) Weeks later, a black reporter named Austin Fenner filed his own lawsuit expanding on Guzman's allegations, and now another black reporter, Ikimulisa Livingston, has joined his lawsuit. What's new here is that she is actually still employed at the Post, and famous reporter Steve Dunleavy has been targeted for some allegedly racist conduct. more ›

You wouldn't know it from the Daily News home page, which emphasizes such breaking news as "Scantily-clad Stars Hit the Sand" and "Kate Hudson's Set A-Rod on Fire," but today's top story, splashed across the cover of the print edition, is "Hillary Clinton Rages at Student: I'm the Boss, Not Bill." The incident happened in Congo yesterday when a university student asked what her husband thought about a multibillion-dollar Chinese loan offer to Congo. Watch the Secretary of State lash out as the audience groans like they're at a taping of Maury: more ›

Greenpoint resident Chrissie Brodigan says she was riding on the L train between Bedford and First Avenue when her pug, who has health problems, overheated and began vomiting in the tote bag she was carrying him in. As she was leaving the subway station with the dog in her arms, she says a police officer's attempt to issue her a ticket turned ugly, and when she became upset the cop began saying, "If you're going to act like a woman I'm going to treat you like a woman." [We've updated with photos of Brodigan's arrest. July 1 update: A new post with details about another witness's account is here. ] more ›

  • James Dolan knows that murder is inappropriate. In a video deposition that Browne Sanders' lawyer took last year, the Knicks owner explained that he decided to fire Browne Sanders even while her complaints of sexual harassment were being investigated because she tried to "influence the process." When asked if calling someone a "bitch" was appropriate, Dolan said, "No, it is not appropriate, it is also not appropriate to murder some one. I don't know that that has happened either." more ›

  • It's our favorite July 4th tradition, this side of smiley-face fireworks: The Annual Nathan's Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest, held at Nathan's in Coney Island. And this year's competition is particularly tantalizing: Current champion Takeru Kobayashi has been having jaw pains, while Joey Chestnut broke the hot dog eating record, by scarfing down 59.5 at a June event. So we shall begin our liveblogging, and Jen Chung and Tien Mao will be providing other commentary during the competition from time to time. more ›

The firing of Don Imus has caused many to take a look at language in not only media, but music. As previously mentioned, Al Sharpton is one looking to clean up what we hear, and yesterday he led a march against racist and sexist lyrics, targeting the major labels. Around 400 others joined him in a march around midtown, outside companies like Universal Music Group. The topic reportedly carried over to a private gathering at the Apollo later on, for what would have been James Brown's 74th birthday. more ›

    • A judge awarded equal custody of a 17-month-old infant to the child's father, the boyfriend of Jennifer Rubell. She is the daughter niece of the late club impressario Steve Rubell, and previously claimed her boyfriend was a stoner mooch, who refused to leave her apartment or get a job.
    • The former head of the Brooklyn Democratic party, Clarence Norman, Jr., is heading off to prison for 1-3 years, for what amounts to a shakedown of a judicial candidate.
    • Al Sharpton is turning his attention from Imus to the Hip-Hop industry, and demanding the end of racist and sexist content. We're feeling good about his recent increase in police protection following Imus-related death threats.
    • Some students at Columbia want to return to the days of 1968-style radicalism, but without all the bra-burnings, free love, and drug use. Sticks and carrots, kids.

On-air personalities (especially those of the "shock jock" genre) are really raising the bar in crossing the line this month. While there's been some high-profile stupid DJ behavior in the past - Hot 97's Tsunami Song, Opie & Anthony broadcasting a couple having sex at St. Patrick's, DJ Star asking listeners for information where a radio rival's young daughter goes to school so he could ejaculate and pee on her - the last week has been a doozy. more ›

Just let us enjoy our weather!) And that makes us that much more eager to share all of the nifty things we're up to... more ›

People wonder if it's a sexist world that causes Martha, who ambition was expressed in bettering a home life, while someone asserting their alpha, greedy nature, like The Donald, can be beloved. But do we love the Post on Douglas Faneuil's part in the case: "He 'Doug' Her Grave" - anytime we get to read Faneuil's email saying, "Baby put Ms. Martha in her place!" is a good time. more ›
