Description
This application is an extension of Gothamist and its network of 13 cities of sites. Easily check the latest goings on at any city in the istaverse with this application. Simply choose your default city and the latest news will be pulled. Setting will be remembered on startup, and will work offline (for subway reading!)

What's New in Version 1.1
- Video should no longer break the frame.
- Added Toolbar for Articles at bottom of screen, and moved the Article link behavior there as well.
- Added previous and next navigation to easily get through the latest entries without having to go back to the main screen
- Removed some repetitive code to help 3g load (further fixes forthcoming)
- Full article with comments can now be opened in Application, instead of having to go to Safari
- First pass at support for posting URL to Twitter
- Increased from last 15 articles to last 20
- UI Tweaks (last post date, back button consistency, spacing issues)

Nice
Not a whole lot to it, but I appreciate that it caches for offline reading.
Glad to see it but not up to par
Very disappointed. On iPhone 3G it's got terrible load times - sometimes as long as 2-3 minutes for a story. Also, no access to read or make comments on the phone? No Facebook/Twitter integration so I can share stories? This feels like y'all simply ported a copy of the mobile site to my homescreen and made it more bloated somehow. Look at HuffPo or Kossack or NY Times or NPR for an idea of how to design a news app that works for iPhone before you do an upgrade, and I guess I'll keep my mobile bookmark for now.
EDIT: I see that since I posted this (justifiably IMO) whiny review, they've announced that fuller featured versions are coming for each local site. I'm looking forward to those, and I stand by my suggestions above.
Not a bad 1.0!
I like the looks and usability of this app a lot! One of my favorite things is having posts from all 13 cities together in one place instead of 13 diff. RSS feeds.
One feature i'd like to see in a future update is an aggregated list of the top stories from around the entire istaverse. A list that a user could change to in lieu of a particular city. That would be so much easier and faster than scanning 13 -ists separately.
