UGLY MOMENT AT GANSEVOORT

January 5, 2008 -- NEW Year's Eve at the Gansevoort Hotel wasn't very happy for one religious partygoer, who was taunted by the hotel staff for wearing a yarmulke. When the Jewish patron, who'd bought a ticket to the festivities, tried to enter the Gansevoort's G-Spa lounge, a witness heard one doorman ask a fellow staffer, "What kind of people do you want in here?" - prompting the second bouncer to ask, "Do you want to come in here, yarmulke?" The source said the guest and a friend were eventually let into the party, but were "asked to leave a little while later." That's when, according to our witness, "the friend and a club manager got into a huge argument which resulted in a staffer spitting in the friend's face." A rep for the event confirmed there was an altercation at G-Spa, but insisted the incident was instigated by the guests and immediately resolved by hotel security.
