The Circus Brings Temporary Jobs to Coney

phpUATwb6AM.jpg Seems a lot of folks are looking to runaway with the circus, or at least make the current financial climate less harsh with a new job at Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus. The NY Times reports back from the job fair held yesterday for the 150 positions open for their new set-up on Coney Island. Over 500 applicants turned up (alongside some animal rights activists) even though the job would only be temporary, lasting around 3 months. The circus wasn't looking for carnival barkers or occupants for the clown car, rather "ticket takers, ushers and custodians" who will work for minimum wage. Lynn B. Kelly, president of the Coney Island Development Corporation said of the turnout, “It may be a function of the market. Or it may be that, how often in life do you get a chance to say you’ve worked at the circus?” We're guessing it's the former. One 16-year-old local told the paper, “A lot of jobs don’t hire teens. But I’m not like everybody else. I’m mature, plus I have a child. I need a job.”

are these the Jobs Bloomberg was talking about in his campaign ads?? Good paying Jobs.

Yes. Here shovel that mountain of elephant shit for $7 an hour...

Bloomberg and marty are heartless corrupt beings. Marty received over 1 million from Bruce Ratner, developer of Atlantic Yards. Ringling Brothers is in trial for Elephant abuse and killed 3 baby elephants. Blomberg could have brought Cirque Du Soleil since they are not charging any rent to ringling. This was to help Ringling which has unsold shows in other states because of the elephant abuse. Shame. Bloomberg is void of any compassion

Marty receiving money from Ratner for the Atlantic yards has something to do with the circus?

I'm not disagreeing with your ultimate conclusion (circus bad, elephants good), but Bloomberg is not the first and likely will not be the last to allow the circus to come to town.

Mary has a history of taking money to greenlight project in his borough. I am sure he received money from Ringling brother somehow. They donated to his personal favorite charities that in return provide massage and fancy chocolates to his staff. There hasn't been an elephant in Coney Island since Topsy who was electrocuted. Now Bloomberg actually ask Taconic Properties to provide RENT free space to Ringling Brother. Ringling Brother gave money to several council member including Joel Rivera to not support the bill to ban will exotic animals in circuses in NYC. There is so much corruption that I can't even type it all. But Bloomberg has NO SOUL.

Bloomberg turned this city into a cold perverse immoral city.
