LOOKS FORWARD TO BASEBALL & BARBECUE
PITTSBURGH -- Chase Utley will undergo surgery on his right thumb Thursday, the Phillies announced.
The surgery will be performed by hand specialist Andrew Weiland at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York. No timetable is immediately available, but prior similar surgeries have taken at least six weeks to heal.
Utley was placed on the disabled list Tuesday.
The Phillies have not issued an update on the condition of third baseman Placido Polanco, who is also on the disabled list with left elbow inflammation.

During his time away from baseball, the Phillies started playing a brand of the game unrecognizable to Brookover, who covered just two winning teams in 15 seasons.
