The Parliament of Australia website is being redeveloped. When the new site is launched in late 2010 pages will reflect a Creative Commons 3.0 Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs licence.

What is Creative Commons?

Creative Commons is a not-for-profit organisation that works to increase the amount of creativity (cultural, educational, and scientific content) in ‘the commons’ — the body of work that is available to the public for free and legal sharing, use, repurposing, and remixing.

Creative Commons provides free, easy-to-use legal tools that give everyone from individual creators to large companies and institutions a simple, standardised way to grant copyright permissions to their creative work. The Creative Commons licences enable people to easily change their copyright terms from the default of ‘all rights reserved’ to ‘some rights reserved’.

Which Creative Commons licence will we be using?

Creative Commons 3.0 Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs licence.

What does a Creative Commons licence allow?

By using this Creative Commons licence, you are free to share — to copy, distribute and transmit the work under the following conditions:

  • Attribution - You must attribute the work in the manner specified by the author or licensor (but not in any way that suggests that they endorse you or your use of the work).
  • NonCommercial - You may not use this work for commercial purposes without our permission.
  • No Derivative Works - You may not alter, transform, or build upon this work without our permission.
