by Nick Zaino, posted May 13th 2011 9:30PM

'The Oprah Winfrey Show'In February, 1988, four skinheads appeared on 'The Oprah Winfrey Show' (weekdays, syndicated) to defend their views. One skinhead said that blacks hadn't created anything in America; they had come to America from the jungles of Africa and were taught by white people. Another said the skinheads only used violence when they were attacked.

On Friday's show, two of those former skinheads returned, looking considerably older and less dangerous.

"Absolutely from the bottom of my heart I apologize for how we were on your show, because we were rude, we were arrogant, we were disruptive, and hateful," said one of the former skinheads. Winfrey accepted the apology.

Mike, the former skinhead who had addressed the question of violence, actually broke into tears thinking about what he had said in 1988. "That kid was lost," he said.

HBO Renews 'Treme' for Third Season

by Alex Moaba, posted May 13th 2011 6:15PM
EW's Inside TV is reporting that HBO has renewed 'Treme' for a third season. Former HBO executive Carolyn Strauss famously said she was "in the David Simon business" when he pitched her 'Treme,' and although she's no longer with the network, it's clear that the game remains the same.

The news is a great sign for fans of the the gritty, post-Katrina New Orleans drama. HBO gave Simon's last show, 'The Wire,' five seasons to grow into a compelling examination of poverty and the drug war in Baltimore, and they appear to be applying that some patience to 'Treme.' Season two has already seen Simon and Eric Overmyer delve further into crime, the police, and reconstruction profiteering in New Orleans; another season will afford them even more opportunity to bring other aspects of the city's machinery to life.
