In honor of pride month and to show his continued support of the Coloradoan LGBT community, Sen. Mark Udall (D-CO) recorded a statement to One Colorado, a leading Colorado LGBT advocacy organization, recently in support of LGBT Coloradans and signalling steadfast focus on the work ahead for the continued expansion of LGBT rights.

Udall outlines the big steps forward the LGBT community has taken legislatively, recently, from the repeal of Don't Ask, Don't Tell which Udall was a key figure in dismantling, to the anti-bullying law just passed in the state, to the beginning of the fight for marriage equality.

"It's an exciting time for the LGBT community," Udall says. "Momentum across the country for equal rights is building. Polls are moving at unprecedented speed in the direction of equality as we've seen in the increasingly quick shift in the public's perception of what it means to be gay."

One Colorado says this about Udall:

Senator Mark Udall has been a champion for LGBT equality in Washington, DC. From his leadership on the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell to his sponsorship of critical bills like the Respect for Marriage Act and the Uniting American Families Act–he has courageously demonstrated his unwavering commitment to ensuring that all Americans can earn a living, be safe in their communities, serve their country, and take care of the ones they love.
