North-West News circulates approximately 10-20km north-west of Brisbane's CBD, and is the major source of local news, social and sporting events and advertising information for the local community. Many of the inner suburbs in the North-West News distribution area are older and more established whilst areas in the northern and western fringes provide new housing estates, bringing many young families into the area. Other suburbs such as McDowall and Ferny Hills are newer and are more expensive. A major army barracks located at Enoggera houses its families in many nearby homes, so the area benefits not only from traditional established families but also the regular influx of new families.
