About the School

Welcome from Jeremy Colwill, Dean of SSHL

Welcome to the School of Social Sciences, Humanities and Languages at the University of Westminster. Our Regent Street location in the centre of London is easy to get to and puts us at the heart of London’s rich scholarly and cultural resources. As one of the largest of the University’s seven schools we offer an exciting breadth of activity across the Social Sciences, Psychology  and the Arts and Humanities, as well as being one of the country’s biggest providers of Modern and Applied Language tuition.

Our taught undergraduate and postgraduate courses are hosted in our academic departments alongside a growing programme of short courses, executive training programmes, and continuing professional development activity in collaboration with our employer and professional partners.

Each of our departments also has a range of research and knowledge transfer activity and the School is the home of the highly regarded Policy Studies Institute. In the recent national Research Assessment Exercise the School was responsible for one third of the University’s total submissions.

We are proud of the diversity of our academic community and of the quality of teaching and research that is carried out in the School. We welcome students from the UK and from all over the world onto our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and the quality of their experience while they are with us is our highest priority.
