During the two years Aaron lived in Hungary, a close relationship was built between Aaron and Global Missions regional coordinators Kelley and Rhonda Philips. The Philips encouraged him to pray about moving to Berlin, Germany, to join a team working on a new ministry project, Gateway Berlin. The call to join the team was confirmed as Aaron returned to the States in the summer of 2008 and continued to pray about the Philips’s’ challenge to partner in ministry. He is excited to be called to Berlin and to be able to use his cross-cultural experience in business and ministry to make a global impact. Aaron was born in northern Indiana and grew up as a Church of God pastor’s kid. The Varner family relocated to Lake Wales, Florida, and since then, central Florida has been his home. Aaron recently married, Nicole Beckler, who has joined him in the ministry in Berlin. Nicole is the daughter of Pastor Robert and Lori Beckler. Nicole graduated from Kansas State University in 2004 with a degree in family studies. Aaron received a degree in business administration with a minor in music from Warner Southern College (now Warner University) in 2004 He earned a master of business administration from Central European University (CEU) in Budapest, Hungary, on a Rotary scholarship. He initially developed a passion for cross-cultural missions during short-term mission trips in high school and college; however, the passion transitioned into a calling while living in Budapest. Aaron accepted a position as the youth pastor to the International Baptist Church of Budapest (IBCB) following graduation from CEU in 2007. It was during his service as youth pastor at IBCB that he sensed a specific calling upon his life to continue with full-time cross-cultural missions, specifically in Europe. Both Aaron and Nicole have been commissioned through the Church of God and began serving with the XZBerlin team in Berlin, Germany on September 1, 2010. Project # 42.10096 |
