Birthdays Anniversary |
In July 2008, Rod began doctoral studies at Anderson University School of Theology, while Jan taught at Anderson University, assisting in the development of a program to train students for English ministries at home and abroad. With the new empty-nest phase of their lives, Rod and Jan wondered whether God had a new mission for them as well. Rod became increasingly interested in studying the global church and in investigating how the Church of God could become more globally connected through its training facilities and churches. His search ultimately led to his appointment as principal of the Kima International School of Theology in Kenya.
Education: Rod: B. Th., M.Div, D.Min. (ABD) Missions experience: (1) In 1995, the Dormers felt the call to missions and moved to Indonesia to work in a school. Jan developed an ESL program for the school, and they were dorm parents to sixteen teenage boys. (3) The denial of their Brazilian visas led them to return once more to Indonesia, where they worked with a seminary. Jan developed a Master of Education program for Indonesian teachers. Background: Rod grew up in Manitoba in the Church of God, and Jan grew up in Brazil as the daughter of missionaries. They married in 1986 and pastored Valley Community Church of God in Ontario until going to the mission field in 1995. Their two daughters, Danna Jo and Jenna, were born in Ontario.
