Tammie moved to Lusaka, Zambia, in June 2005, where she developed a very successful pastoral training program for the Church of God in the region. She also serves in an advisory role to the Church of God in Zambia and Mozambique.

Tammie was born and raised in the town of Elkhart in southwest Kansas. She first felt a tug towards missions at the young age of ten while listening to the stories of missionaries at church. She took her first missions trip to Papua New Guinea, an island above Australia, in 1987 at the age of seventeen. The two months spent in New Guinea solidified her calling to missionary service.

During Tammie's time at Anderson University, she continued to be involved in missions, spending two months in Brazil. After graduating in 1992 with a degree in mathematics and computer science and a minor in Bible, Tammie moved to Budapest, Hungary, to work in the church as a special assignment missionary with Global Missions of Church of God Ministries.

In 1997, she graduated The AU School of Theology with a master's degree in historical and intercul¬tural studies, with an emphasis in overseas missions. She spent a month in Tanzania, East Africa to research her master's thesis. Following her graduation, Tammie was sent to Kenya, East Africa, by Global Missions to teach at Kima International School of Theology (KIST). In addition, she served as the director of the computer center. She also ministered ex¬tensively in rural areas of Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, holding training seminars.

Tammie was ordained as a minister in the Church of God in July 1999. She became the academic dean of Kima International School of Theology in January 2002. After spending seven years in fruitful ministry in Kenya training pastors for the Church of God, as well as other denominations, Tammie left Kenya in August 2004.
