Australian Trade Commission Announces Reform

On the 17 May 2011, Trade Minister Emerson announced a series of reforms to the Australian Trade Commission (Austrade).

The reforms are designed to address changes in the global business environment and to Austrade’s responsibilities in recent years.

They are designed to create a more contemporary and sustainable Austrade – one that can deliver greater value for the business community and for the government.

The changes involve a new strategy, operating model and structure for Austrade.

Details of these elements can be found in the publication, Reform of the Australian Trade Commission: Maximising our Value.

On 2 September 2011, the Chief Executive of Austrade, Peter Grey, announced Austrade’s new Senior Executive Group which will lead and shape Austrade’s trade, investment and international education efforts. The Senior Executive Group reflects the new organisational structure of the recent Review of Austrade’s operations and will report to the Austrade CEO from 1 October.
