Tonight on The Good Wife: Matthew Perry Guest Stars as a New Antagonist (Sneak Peek)

Matthew Perry is joining the ever growing and impressive list of guest stars that appear on The Good Wife and this will be the first of several appearances. Perry is playing Mike Kresteva, the chairman of a blue ribbon panel that Alicia (Julianna Margulies) has been assigned to, a panel that is investigating an Internal Affairs matter relating to a police shooting. Elsewhere on tonight's episode Kalinda (Archie Pajabi) is continuing to have issues with the IRS that will see a face from her past return and the fight for more power between the equity partners at Lockhart Gardner rages on.

As with all things politically and law related in The Good Wife the two are entwined, so there are a couple of other members of the blue ribbon panel that will be familiar »

Mad Men Season 5: Get Caught Up for Sunday's Premiere!

24 March 2012 5:43 AM, PDT

Mad Men Season 5: Get Caught Up for Sunday's Premiere!

The long awaited Season 5 of AMC’s Emmy winning drama Mad Men premieres on Sunday night.

The two-hour, Jon Hamm directed episode, continues where season 4 left off with the show’s characters experiencing changes and new beginnings.

Don is with his new fiancée Megan, while the still married Joan is pregnant with Roger Sterling’s baby.

Don’s ex-wife Betty, is still married with Henry, living in their new home.

Pete is in wedded bliss with Trudy. The couple by the end of season 4 welcomed to the world a baby girl.

As for Peggy, even though she rescued the agency in season 4 by bringing in a pantyhose account, she still remains undervalued and overlooked because she's a woman.

Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner revealed, talking about the 2-hour premiere at TVLine.com, that is “One super-sized episode.” “As I started writing it, »

Fringe 4.15 "A Short Story About Love" Review

23 March 2012 10:16 PM, PDT

Fringe 4.15 "A Short Story About Love" Review

Despite its science-y weirdness, Fringe is a show dedicated to the superiority of love. The show argues that love is something that doesn't adhere to the rules of science. It's something that can bring universes together, and it's something that can shatter them. "A Short Story About Love," the March 23 episode of Fringe, is ultimately part of a much longer story about love. But does the episode serve as a representative microcosm of the rest of the series, as any episode bearing such a title ultimately should? The answer is yes, though not without a few flaws.

"A Short Story About Love" thankfully put an end to the most frustrating part of season 4 so far: the contrived mystery of where Peter is. It's been obvious to most fans since the outset that Peter is in an altered version of his own timeline, but »

Supernatural 7.17 Review: You Broke It, You Bought It...Or, Is This What Redemption Looks Like?

Supernatural 7.17 Review: You Broke It, You Bought It...Or, Is This What Redemption Looks Like?

A curious thing has happened to Supernatural.  However you may feel about Sera Gamble as a showrunner and however you may feel about the season-long arcs (which, admittedly, I have had a few problems with lately), the truth is that Ms. Gamble has emerged as one of the strongest writers on the show.  Together with Ben Edlund, Gamble has, this season, delivered (in my humble opinion) three consistently solid episodes.  Episodes that not only do justice to the Winchesters, but also to the other two characters that make up the core of Supernatural: Castiel and Bobby.

This week's episode, "The Born-Again Identity", not only re-introduced Castiel and Misha Collins to the show, but it also reminded me why I love Supernatural.  For all of the frustration that some fans may have on both sides of the Castiel argument, »

Spartacus: Vengeance 2.09 "Monsters" Review - Great Balls of Fire

Spartacus: Vengeance 2.09 "Monsters" Review - Great Balls of Fire

-Starz

Spartacus: Vengeance continues its bloody fight in the aftermath of Spartacus: Blood and Sand, igniting its ninth and penultimate episode "Monsters," as Spartacus struggles to unite his men for their cause, while a broken Ilithyia (Viva Bianca) returns to find her place against her maddening husband Glaber.  An  incredibly strong, if somewhat uneven episode, "Monsters" climactic end will have viewers howling at their televisions for the final installment next week.

Wow, man.  Just wow.  I’m terribly afraid of losing my eloquence when I talk about “Monsters,” as I’m still coming down from something of a high over it, but I wanted to capture the sheer excitement the latest episode of Spartacus: Vengeance imparts.  We all thought after “Libertus” that the climactic battle that brought down the stadium simply couldn’t be topped in terms of sheer scope, but »

Supernatural Promo: Garth Returns and the Boys Go on a Crazy Hunt in Episode 7.18

Supernatural Promo: Garth Returns and the Boys Go on a Crazy Hunt in Episode 7.18

Sam suffered from a complete breakdown in this week's episode of Supernatural.  After days of not sleeping because of Lucifer's constant meddling, he got hit by a car and ended up in a mental hospital after the doctors diagnosed his condition.  Dean set out to find a way to help his brother, which eventually led him to a healer that was supposed to be legitimate: a man named Emmanuel, who just so happened to look exactly like Castiel (guest star Misha Collins).

In fact, it was Castiel, who walked out of the lake months ago and established a new life, complete with amnesia about his true identity and a wife.  He and Dean set off to help Sam, but a lot of demons decided to track Dean along the way.  He got into a spot of trouble until Meg joined in. »

The Killing Season 2 Sneak Peek: Like Mother, Like Son

23 March 2012 5:11 PM, PDT

The Killing Season 2 Sneak Peek: Like Mother, Like Son

AMC has released the first sneak peek at season 2 of The Killing and while it doesn't reveal a lot (har har), it hints at what's to come for Detective Sarah Linden.

In the video, Linden and her son Jack are holed up in a hotel room, eating vending machine food for dinner and trying not to step on each other's toes too much. The two were thrown off the boat they were staying on, so it looks like Linden's fallen down the rabbit hole of the Rosie Larsen case even more, if she's not moved into something a little more permanent. The most interesting part of the three minute clip, minus the obvious awkwardness between the two, is how cryptic everything Linden said was. There's a phone call relating to, I think, Rick trying to get in touch with her, as »

Once Upon a Time Sneak Peek: The Mad Hatter Goes...Mad

23 March 2012 1:31 PM, PDT

Once Upon a Time Sneak Peek: The Mad Hatter Goes...Mad

We know from a recently posted sneak peek for this weekend's Once Upon a Time that the Mad Hatter (played by guest star Sebastian Stan) is slightly...eccentric.  He seems convinced that Wonderland is not only real, but that Emma possesses magic that can help him.  While she's searching for Mary Margaret, he offers to help, which, unfortunately, leads to Emma getting drugged and kidnapped.

(mild spoilers coming....)

But it just so happens that the Mad Hatter (or Jefferson, as he's known in the Storybrooke world) has someone else tied up in his house.

Who is that person?  Mary Margaret!  How he got a hold of her, we don't yet know, but Emma finds her locked in one of the rooms.  When she tries to free her, Jefferson bursts into the room and the two of them fight.  Unfortunately, »

Touch Adds Maria Bello for Guest Arc

Touch Adds Maria Bello for Guest Arc

It looks like Touch is getting a little touch...of Maria Bello.

According to Deadline, the Fox drama will be adding the Golden Globe nominee for multiple episodes this season. Should the character work out, and the show get its expected season 2 pickup, there's an option for bringing Bello back into the fold. She's set to play a woman with a daughter that possesses the same gift that Jake has, the ability to predict future events based on numbers.

Before landing on Touch, Maria Bello starred in the short-lived adaptation of Prime Suspect for NBC, which had its final episodes burned off in January. Most known for her feature work in the likes of The Cooler and A History of Violence, she's had roles in ER, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, and Law & Order: Svu. Aside from Touch, you can next check Bello out »

Smash Sneak Peeks: Eileen's Daughter Arrives; Tom and Derek Reveal the Origin of Their Rift

In case you missed the news, Smash has already been renewed for a second season by NBC.  But that doesn't mean it's smooth sailing.  In fact, there is a lot of fallout from the recent workshop presentation in the upcoming episode.

First, it looks like Derek reaches out to Karen to record a new song...by a new songwriter.  Is he trying to take the project away from Julia and Tom?  Let's just say that when Tom, in particular, finds out what Derek has done, he is absolutely livid.  Even more than that, Tom finally reveals the reason he hates Derek.  It turns out that over 10 years ago the two had a falling out when one of their shows went back and Derek apparently went around bad-mouthing Tom.

Meanwhile, Eileen's daughter comes to town just »

Gossip Girl Preview: Lily Fights Back; Dan and Blair Have Logistical Troubles

Gossip Girl fans will just have to wait a little bit longer for their show to return, but when the show does return in April, we're jumping right back into the action.

Ivy was willed the majority of CeCe's estate and ended up kicking Lily and Rufus out of their penthouse apartment because it had been left to her.  The pair have returned to Rufus' Brooklyn pad, but Lily isn't about to take this whole situation lying down.  She's clearly reaching out to professionals (lawyers, etc) to find something bad in Ivy's past that she can use against her to wrestle back control of the estate.  Ivy, meanwhile, has been black-balled in New York society by both Lily and Serena.  She reaches out to William van der Woodsen (guest star Billy Baldwin) for advice and he suggests she »

The Carrie Diaries: First Look at Star AnnaSophia Robb as Carrie Bradshaw

The Carrie Diaries: First Look at Star AnnaSophia Robb as Carrie Bradshaw

Based on a book by Sex and the City author Candace Bushnell, The Carrie Diaries tells the tale of young Carrie Bradshaw growing up in Manhatten.

Warner Bros. is currently producing the pilot for a potential pick-up by The CW.  In following their own lead of releasing the first image of another pilot in development (Arrow), WB has now given fans their first photo of AnnaSophie Robb in the role of Carrie (view it below).

The Carrie Diaries writer/executive producer Amy B. Harris said: "The search for Carrie Bradshaw was an exciting adventure. Having been a part of the Sex and the City series, I felt such an honor and responsibility to the fans of the show to find someone who embodied the spirit of Manhattan's favorite 'It' girl. When AnnaSophia Robb walked into the room, »

Supernatural Slide-Show: Castiel's Most Memorable Scenes

Supernatural Slide-Show: Castiel's Most Memorable Scenes

You knew this Supernatural slide-show was coming, don't deny it.  The truth is that I've only done one other Castiel related slide-show (Castiel's best lines).  Since then we've taken a look at best villains, hottest Winchester scenes, and focused on both Sam and Dean's most memorable moments, as well as celebrated their best brotherly bonding moments.  Today it's the angel's turn.

Misha Collins returns to Supernatural this week as Castiel with plans to return in two more episodes this season.  In some respects, Castiel is a divisive character in the fandom.  Personally, I've always thought he was a great addition to the cast since he blazed onto our screens in season 4.  Since that time he's gone through many roles on the show, from tentative ally to dear friend to betrayer.

However you might feel about Castiel, you have to admit that Misha has always played him to perfection. »

30 Rock 6.14 "Kidnapped By Danger" Review - The Baldwin Solution

23 March 2012 7:03 AM, PDT

30 Rock 6.14 "Kidnapped By Danger" Review - The Baldwin Solution

-NBC

30 Rock season 6 stages the fourteenth episode of season 6 with "Kidnapped by Danger," where Liz prevents Jack from succumbing to Avery's mother Diana (Mary Steenburgen) during production of his movie while Kenneth takes on a new job and Tracy and Jenna out-parody Weird Al Yankovic.  Somewhat less even than the previous half-hour, "Kidnapped by Danger" seems like a promising story that doesn't quite live up to its potential.

So, I was more or less correct when I decided  that it wasn’t necessary to view “Grandmentor” and “Kidnapped by Danger” as a single episode, in spite of their presentation.  Kristen Schaal has no role to play this week, and the only real continued threads are the production of Jack’s Avery Jessup movie and Kenneth once again attempting to claw his way back up the corporate ladder, but they’re not »

American Idol Top Ten Results: Just the Way it Is

American Idol Top Ten Results: Just the Way it Is

I can't say I'm surprised at tonight's results. Even though Erika van Pelt had the voice, somehow, she wasn't connecting with voters, and on American Idol that means an all too early exit. But more on that later.

The night started off with a group song to "The Longest Time". Each contestant gets a moment to shine, and I spy Casey Abrams in the audience. I liked that there was choreography, but it didn't seem silly or forced, and that the end harmonization came off so well. The music video was another nonentity, with the contestants playing hide-and-go-seek, and not even pretending to sing along to the song in the background.

Hollie, Skylar and Elise are first up. I'm glad that they are all safe to next week. Apparently next week the contestants are moving into a mansion, so expect »

The Vampire Diaries 3.17 "Break on Through" Review

The Vampire Diaries 3.17 "Break on Through" Review

As we head into the final third of this season of The Vampire Diaries certain story threads are being untangled and this episode definitely felt like a table setter to the overall plot and to remind us of what the goal of the year has been. The overarching story this year has been about the Originals; though it is only Rebekah (Claire Holt) who has featured in the last couple of episodes and these have dealt primarily with the serial killer plot and Stefan's control issues. These were the two stronger parts of this weaker episode and other aspects such as the Sage (Cassidy Freeman) felt a bit flat.

So let's start with what worked well in "Break on Through" and that begins with last week's big reveal that Alaric (Matt Davis) was the one who had been going on a mini-killing spree. »

The Secret Circle 1.17 "Curse" Review

The Secret Circle 1.17 "Curse" Review

Whenever one experiences grief following a tragic incident, there's always an urge to want to change things and try to find some way to make it "better". It's human nature, of course, but once a major disruption occurs in our lives, we start brainstorming ways to get things as close to the prior status quo as possible. Bargaining, the third stage of grief in the Kubler-Ross model, can take the form of incentives ("if I do X, then please let Y happen") or simple desire to change places with the person most affected; however, it never pans out. In real life, there's no "takesy backsies", if you will, making bargaining an important hurdle to get over in the slow march toward acceptance. Luckily, The Secret Circle says to hell with grief, thanks to a little thing called magic.

Magic adds another element to any horrible »

30 Rock 6.13 "Grandmentor" Review - Coming Up Schaal

30 Rock 6.13 "Grandmentor" Review - Coming Up Schaal

-NBC

30 Rock season 6 advises you to watch the thirteenth episode of season 6 with "Grandmentor," where Liz takes Hazel (Kristen Schaal) under her wing while Jack struggles to keep Avery's story in the media and Kenneth finds himself butting in on his old job.  Full of fresh direction and some uneven characterization, "Grandmentor" seems like a promising new start for the aged series.

Had I known earlier that tonight’s “Grandmentor” was more or less the first half of a two-part story (something 30 Rock seems to be doing a lot of this season, for some reasons more legitimate than others), I might have watched “Kidnapped by Danger” before I sat down to start writing this.  That said, I felt it a more interesting challenge to judge the show on an episode-to-episode basis, as not every two-parter is meant to be looked at as one stand-alone story. »

Archer 3.13 "Space Race: Part 2" Review - Over Arching

-FX

Archer blasts off with its finale from season 3, or technically season 3.5 "Space Race, Part 2," as Archer and the Isis crew fight their way through space (with guest star Bryan Cranston) to escape a mutiny on an international space station. While thoroughly entertaining and full of great moments throughout, sadly the season finale isn't one of the most memorable Archer stories of the series.

Well, I have to admit.  I never thought I’d see it coming, but for once I’m actually sad to see Archer go.  I never made terribly much of the show before I caught myself up in time for the current season, and in truth it’s still not my favorite show, but I have found myself laughing more and more.  Perhaps it takes that time to have Archer grow on you, or that time to allow »

Community 3.12 "Contemporary Impressionists" Recap

Community 3.12 "Contemporary Impressionists" Recap

In a perfect world, this episode of Community would have been the first episode back from winter hiatus. Instead, on a balmy spring night, we’re sitting around in our houses while the study group talks about their new year, and…ah, well. No complaints, right? I didn’t think so.

Turns out that a lot of stuff went on with the Greendale crew over break. Pierce digitized his entire movie collection, Britta got excited for her new psychology courses, and Jeff saw a new shrink – one that put him on anti-anxiety pills. Britta is intensely against this new development, as she feels keeping Jeff on the pills will cause him to become a hyper narcissist (essentially, Jeff needs his ego in order to keep himself from going crazy.) For once in her life, I think Britta’s actually in the right here (and it turns out, »
