Are you serious when you say that the D800 has superior ISO performance compared to the D700...? This statement is a far cry from the truth... The D800 looks just "okay" at best from ISO 3200 + ......

To be fair to the D800, this extraordinary resolution will only proove beneficial under good lighting conditions... beyond ISO 1600 the image quality deteriorates rapidly...

Actually a large number of people are just point out the fact that the Nikon D4 isn't even on par with the 2½ year old D3S - and that the Canon 5D Mark III produces cleaner images than the D4...

@ DarkShift - yes i have indeed compared RAW samples from both cameras - and there will be little doubt in anyone's mind that the 5D III samples are much cleaner with better detail retention at all...

The 5D Mark III kills the D800 at every ISO setting... there is absolutely no question about it. Even the RAW samples (from a Polish website) look...

@ ezradja - i agree with your assessment that the OM-D E-M5 ISO samples are not on par with the Canon G1 X or Sony NEX 5N in terms of detail retention...

Sorry for using that particular expression... but it seemed like an appropriate way to describe the heavy handed smudging... considering thats precisely the effect D4's noise reduction algorithms...

The 5D Mark III is definitely a star performer as far as high ISO capability goes... it totally wastes the D4 from ISO 6400 and beyond... The level of detail retention and sharpness is...

Taking your point of view into consideration... i wonder why Nikon's yearly earnings are taking a nose dive... check their annual income reports... their revenue has plummeted by approximately 9.5...

I totally agree with your view... everybody here seems so reluctant to accept t he fact that thew D3S is still top dog as far as high ISO & overall IQ are concerned...

They're trying to justify...

But the high ISO performance of the 5D Mark III has been greatly improved... by over 2 stops from the 5D Mark II ... that by itself puts it on par with the Nikon D3S ... IsO 51200 & 102400 are...

You actually believe that the D800 is the most exciting DSLR of 2012...? The D800 is only revolutionary as far as resolution goes... everything else about it is borderline mediocre...

At high ISO perfpormance... the Canon G1 X already beats the Nikon D7000 / D5100 & V1 ... But at the end of the day its a point & shoot... intended as a DSLR backup...

The reason people compare the D4 to the D3S is because the D3S has set the stanndard for high ISO excellence...

The fact of the matter is that they don't "destroy" anything... using your logic...
