178th FW graduates final class

The 178th Fighter Wing, Springfield, Ohio, graduated its final American F-16 Fighting Falcon Basic Course class Dec. 12 at a formal banquet at the Hilton Cincinnati Netherland Plaza.

Dutch pilots hit 3,000 flying hours in FY09

Fiscal year 2009 marked the second year that the Royal Netherlands Air Force F-16 Training Detachment flew 3,000 hours. As a reward for meeting the annual goal pilots were able to enjoy a day off for their hard work.
During a Sept. 23 test, an AIM-9X fired from a U.S. Air Force F-16C fighter sank a rapidly moving target boat in the Gulf of Mexico.
The Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) notified Congress December 7 of a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to establish a Material Management Program for repair and return of 61 F100-PW-220E engine modules.

Misawa Air Base's F-16 Fighting Falcons will fly against enemy aircraft in order to strike targets, protect the base and fly missions during a realistic simulation of war beginning October 28.
"Falcon Air Meet 2009", a multi-national F-16 competition hosted by the Royal Jordanian Air Force officially opened October 20.
The District of Columbia Air National Guard 113th Maintenance Squadron has a facility that tests F-16 Fighting Falcon F110-GE-100 engines to ensure they are safe for flight before they are installed on the aircraft.

Auto-GCAS approved for block 40 F-16s

According to Flightglobal, the USAF has finally approved funding for the Automatic Ground Collision Avoidance System (auto-GCAS) to be fitted to F-16 Block 40s, with future additions to the Lockheed F-22 & F-35.

Lockheed Martin unveiled the first of 18 new F-16s being produced for Pakistan in ceremonies today at its Fort Worth, Texas, facility. Officials including the Chiefs of Staff of the U.S. and Pakistan Air Forces were on hand to witness the event.
Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman will depart for the the United States early this coming week to attend the Pakistan F-16 Peace Drive I inauguration ceremony.
Malaysia welcomed the Thunderbirds with open arms as they arrived at Subang Air Base Sept. 30 for the third stop on their Far East Tour.
