Last Raptor reports for duty
The last F-22 Raptor, tail number 4195, from Lockheed Martin Aeronautical Company left Dobbins Air Reserve Base May 5 to report for duty at its new unit at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson near Anchorage, Alaska.

Two Lockheed Martin F-35B short takeoff/vertical landing (STOVL) production aircraft were ferried to Eglin Air Force Base, on May 10th, marking the 24th and 25th F-35 deliveries to the Department of Defense.

Air force Secretary Donald Rice endorses continued procurement of USAF F-16s through the 1990s with additional technology and capability upgrades.

A USAF F-16 was shot down by a Serb-launched missile while on patrol over Bosnia. The pilot, Air Force Capt. Scott O'Grady, ejected safely and landed behind Serb lines. He was rescued six days later.

The Official 'Fighting Falcon'

F-16A Block 10
This was the F-16 used during the official naming ceremony which was held on July 21st, 1980. Wore a large colourful emblem just behind the canopy with 'Fighting Falcon' titles. The art work was done by Salt Lake City artists Matt and Mark Waki. The marking was removed in 1982.
