Dutch F-16s in action in Afghanistan

Dutch F-16 jets saw action last week in Afghanistan's southern Helmand province in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
A U.S. Air Force F-16 fighter, providing nontraditional intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance support to coalition ground forces, killed a member of an improvised explosive device cell and identified an IED emplacement yesterday near Baqubah, Iraq, U.S. Central Command Air Forces officials reported today.
When Air traffic controllers failed to establish radio contact with a Boeing 737 on its way from Bulgaria to Belfast, two F-16s from Leeuwarden AB were scrambled.

Two RNLAF F-16s intercepted a Boeing 737 on Thursday when Air traffic control could not establish radio contact with the aircraft. The SAS Braathens airliner was on its way from Malaga to Oslo.

Two Dutch F-16 fighters were scrambled from the air force base at Leeuwarden on Wednesday morning when radio contact could not be established with a Boeing 737 from Berlin.
Two Greek F-16s where scrambled from their base on Sunday, August 14th around 11.30h local to intercept a Helios Airways B737 in Greek airspace.

Double scramble by Italian F-16s

There was a double scramble by Italian F-16s yesterday evening. An Iranian Foxtrot 100 took off from France for Greece, authorised to travel north of the Alps. The aircraft however, veered off course around Abenga.
A U.S. F-16 Fighting Falcon provided close air support to ground troops fighting to recover two slain helicopter crewmen in the vicinity of Baquba, Iraq, on May 26, officials said.
