Plan the Perfect 4th of July Party

by Stephanie Harrison on July 2, 2012

The Fourth of July is right around the corner, and what better way to celebrate summer’s favorite holiday than by throwing a party?  EG has all kinds of suggestions for decorations, music, and, of course, snacks to pull off the perfect bash!

Food: Finger foods are the way to go when throwing any kind of summertime get-together.  Don’t over-complicate things; your party-goers will be easily satisfied with these simple (and patriotic) suggestions!

  1. Popsicles are a classic summertime treat.  Seriously, nothing tastes better than a frozen pop on a hot summer day.  For your party, we suggest these red and blue Yosicles.  Head over to our contest page for your chance to win free Popsicles!

  3. Marshmallow & berry shish kabobs are a fun and fruity treat that will satisfy your sweet tooth while simultaneously serving as pretty red, white, and blue decoration.  All you need are some wooden shish kabob sticks, berries, and marshmellows.  After you’ve washed your fruit, stack blueberries, strawberries, blackberries, and raspberries along with marshmellows on each stick until it’s full.  Pile your fruity kabobs in a mound on a pretty plate and set them out for guests to grab!

  5. Star spangled salsa platters are an easy snack to include at your party.  Pick out a festive plate and pour a pile of blue corn tortilla chips on one side.  Accompany the chips with some bright red salsa and sour cream for the easiest red, white, and blue snack you’ve ever prepared!

Decorations: Okay, so you’ve got the food down, next come the decorations.  You can turn a plain old backyard BBQ into a star spangled celebration with these easy DIY décor tips.

  1. Bandana place-mats are a fun and easy substitute for plain old place-mats.  Add red and blue bandannas underneath dishes and plates for an extra pop of star spangled style.  This effortless embellishment will give your party an authentic American look!

    Red Bandana, $2.

  3. M&M filled mason jars are a simple decoration that will not only look nice, but serve as an extra snack too!  Fill up multiple mason jars with red, white, and blue M&M’s and place them around your party.  Stick mini American flags in the edible centerpieces for a finishing touch!

    7-oz Single Color M&M’s Bag, $7 each. 12in American Flag, $1. 1 Quart Ball Jar, $2.

  1. Spray-painted metal tubs are great decoration and when filled with ice they can be used as a place to store beverages too.  Go out and find red, white, or blue metal tubs then take a stencil and spray paint whatever phrase you want on your tub.

MARTHA STEWART Monogram Serif Alphabet Stencil,$6. TAMIYA light blue spray paint, $6. Red Metal Oval Beverage Tub, $15.

Music: Of course, what would a party be without some summer jams?  Peep this feel-good 4th of July playlist that we think would get any crowd going.

  1. Good Time‘ by Owl City ft. Carly Rae Jepsen
  2. Want U Back‘ by Cher Lloyd
  3. Some Nights‘ by Fun
  4. Little Talks‘ by Of Monsters and Men
  5. Beauty and the Beat‘ by Justin Bieber ft. Nicki Minaj

(And obviously it wouldn’t be 4th of July if you didn’t play Party in the USA at least once!)

Happy 4th everyone!

I find this piece very compelling. It’s tilangurar shape works for me formally, calling to mind the trinity represented in the church, yet the shape of the leaf is paganistic, like the Birth of Venus. It makes me very melancholy and nostalgic, as if it’s reminding me of a time when religious idols and sexual attraction weren’t divorced (something we now are forced to find in pop-idols). I’m still trying to figure out what to do with the face in the window. But I do know that it’s necessary. It’s what upsets the gentleness of the image and keeps me enraptured. Nice.

Its such as you learn my thoughts! You seem to know a lot about this, such as you wrote the e book in it or something. I feel that you simply can do with some percent to drive the message house a bit, but other than that, this is excellent blog. A fantastic read. I will certainly be back.

Hi Sher Shital,What can we say, the pictures speak for tvlsmeehes. We had a great time and we’re glad you did too.If anyone is going to be the main man, it has to be my husband or even little I-maani junior who was so helpful running around and clearly responsible enough to carry the big camera Thanks again,Vanessa ChetanxXx
