Universal Pictures to Adapt Ernie Cline's Armada

Source: Variety
December 6, 2012

Just days after the novel was set up at Crown Publishing, Variety reports that Ernie Cline's upcoming Armada is already set for adaptation at Universal Pictures.

"I’m still sworn to secrecy about the plot of the novel," Cline writes on his official site, "but if you enjoyed 'Ready Player One', I strongly suspect that you’ll enjoy 'Armada', too."

Ready Player One, Cline's first book, is set up for an adaptation at Warner Bros.

"sworn to secrecy about the plot?? Seriously? Quite ridiculous.

As a writer you are selling me a story. Why would I even think about buying your book if I have no idea what the plot will be?

I'm sure the plot will come out by the time the novel is published... he doesn't want anyone to steal the idea until then.

He is sworn to secrecy because Universal doesn't want another studio stealing the concept and making a similar movie first. It really is not that ridiculous.

That being said, 'Ready Player One' was fantastic and am really excited for this next book.

'Ready Player One', one of my best sci-fi read in 2012. Can't wait for this 'Armada'.
