If you'd like to refresh your decor but aren't sure where to start, Gabberts is offering help: a complimentary half-hour session with designer Karlene Hunter Baum.

Schedule an individual appointment between 4 and 8 p.m. on Thursday, and Baum will help you develop a master plan to make the design process more manageable, enjoyable and cost-effective.

And if you want to learn design essentials and techniques that you can put into practice in your own home, Gabberts is also offering a four-part series of design classes taught by Pat Manning-Hannon. The workshops will cover personal design styles, elements and principles of design, floor plans and measurement, and psychology of color.

Classes meet 1-3 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Jan. 22, 24, 29 and 31.

Most of us pull out all the stops only when we're entertaining a crowd. Moll Anderson thinks that same kind of attention should be lavished on that one special person.

She's encouraging readers to do just that with her new book, "Seductive Tables for Two: Tablescapes, Picnics, & Recipes That Inspire Romance."

Anderson, an interior designer and familiar TV presence, makes a case for using a table for two to set the stage for romance. She shares her vision for 16 intimate encounters, from a sunrise breakfast to a nightcap in front of the fire.

She includes decorative details, recipes and helpful information such as ideas for themes and guidance on choosing colors.

"Seductive Tables for Two" is published by Moll Anderson Productions and sells for $19.95 in softcover.
