Video shows Erdoğan's nephew cursing at officer, Gezi protesters

24 December 2013 /TODAYSZAMAN.COM, İSTANBUL
A video that recently went viral on the Internet shows a nephew of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan swearing at Gezi protesters and an officer who refused to treat a demonstrator unlawfully, causing outrage in the country.

The prime minister's nephew and bodyguard, Ali Erdoğan, is seen giving orders to several officers to not let a detained Gezi protester sit while in custody, at a police station in the Black Sea province of Trabzon. When an officer refuses his command, Erdoğan starts cursing at Gezi protesters and the officer.

The detained protester was taken into custody for throwing eggs at the convoy of Prime Minister Erdoğan in Trabzon. Following her detention, she filed a lawsuit against Erdoğan's nephew, claiming that he cursed at her while in custody.
