Dylan Farrow Gives First Interiew After New York Times Letter

23 hours ago | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

For the first time since she penned her letter to the New York Times about the alleged sexual abuse she has accused her adoptive father Woody Allen of, Dylan Farrow has spoken to People about both the charges she has made and the backlash.

Farrow’s critics have accused her of writing the letter as a means of sabotaging her father and his career, but she insists this isn’t the case. “I’ve been hearing that a lot,” Farrow told People. “I’m happy to answer that. My intention in writing that piece was to put the truth on paper from a voice that was not able to speak before.”

After the letter caused a huge media outcry, 78-year-old Allen vehemently denied the allegations via his publicist, who said, “Mr. Allen has read the article and found it untrue and disgraceful.”

Who wants to see the trailer for a killer mermaid movie? -- Video

15 minutes ago | EW - Inside Movies | See recent EW.com - Inside Movies news »

The killer mermaid genre is not quite as slender as you might imagine (and we’re not even counting the controversial alternative ending to Splash in which a bloodlust-crazed Daryl Hannah beheads Tom Hanks with her tail). But it certainly isn’t large enough for us to ignore the appearance of a clip for Epic Pictures’ new horror film Nymph, about two young women who go on a Mediterranean vacation and uncover the watery lair of a killer mermaid beneath an abandoned military fortress.

A killer mermaid? A watery lair? Other things? What’s not to love!

The Russian Police Choir Singing "Get Lucky" Was the Best Part of the Olympic's Opening Ceremony

32 minutes ago | E! Online | See recent E! Online news »

Sure, t.A.t.U. may have been the most famous performers at today's Olympics Opening Ceremony (you may remember them from their 2002 hit "All The Things She Said"). And yes, a malfunctioning snowflake may have been the biggest scandal so far. And Ok, that animatronic bear mascot will be what you'll remember (especially when you see him in your dreams).  But the best part of the Opening Ceremonies? Hands down, it was definitely this very enthusiastic performance of Daft Punk's "Get Lucky" by the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (if that all sounds familiar, it's because a video of them rehearsing the number went viral last year).  Watch the video here. »

Oops—she did it again. During her show in Las Vegas on Tuesday night, Britney Spears was performing her hit song "Stronger," when suddenly, her mic pack flew off, leaving the singer struggling with the cord as she continued to dance onstage. A fan's Instagram video captured the moment, which shows the "Piece of Me" performer dancing up a storm in her semi-sheer jeweled black leotard before her mic detaches from her dazzling costume. Always the consummate professional, the pop princess didn't miss a beat, even managing to pull off a 360 spin with her mic pack hanging loose. This isn't the first time Spears suffered a slight snafu during one of her Las Vegas shows (after all, »

CNN has pulled “AC360 Later” from its primetime schedule, a spokesperson for the network told TheWrap on Friday. The Anderson Cooper-lead show, which debuted in September at 10 p.m., had been an experimental discussion-based series that never had a permanent spot on the schedule. The show was frequently bumped for breaking news, like the death of Nelson Mandela, and special programming like CNN’s documentaries and films. Jesse Owens Biopic Gets Boost From Family

The daughter of Olympic athlete Jesse Owens, Marlene Owens Rankin, was at the Berlin Olympic Stadium on Thursday to attend the international sales launch of “Race,” the biopic about her father. Variety spoke to her and Stephen Hopkins, the director of the film, whose cast has just been joined by Jeremy Irons and Geoffrey Rush.

Owens Rankin, sitting yards from the spot where Adolf Hitler watched the 1936 Olympics in which Owens won four gold medals, said the film can deliver an uplifting message to young moviegoers.

“The message it can deliver is about the human spirit — about its endurance and vulnerability — but also the success you can achieve when you are motivated, and persevere in the face of adversity,” she said. “So, hopefully, kids who are underachieving and who lack hope will be motivated by his life and successes in spite of all he went through.”

James Martin S.J., a Jesuit priest, met Hoffman when he came in to consult on the Labyrinth Theater Company's production of The Last Days of Judas Iscariot, which Hoffman directed in 2003. Martin then joined the company as a member, and later advised Hoffman on 2008's Doubt. Lea Michele and Heather Morris: Two Friends With Two Totally Different Styles

They may be friends both on and off-screen. But Glee stars Lea Michele and Heather Morris appear to have nothing in common in the important style department. In case you were ever wondering if fashion is an indicator of friendship, the answer appears to be a big fat no! We can't tell if this is a case of Michele being overly bundled up for a chilly day in Los Angeles. To us, however, it looks like she's walking on the streets of New York City while her co-star is strolling down the streets of Santa Monica! So should this be a question of who looks best or who is dressed for the occasion? It was a rainy day making the brunette's all-black palette with a chunky knit hat a smarter choice. »

YouTube has a new boss, but don’t expect much change. Susan Wojcicki has been at Google since the beginning, even hosting the company in her garage early on. She’s a talented and respected executive, but based on conversations with people close to YouTube, Google’s former head of advertising products is not going to introduce dramatic changes at one of the fastest growing businesses in the entertainment industry. That is both good and bad. One frequent complaint about YouTube from those inside the community is that it wants to be everything to everyone. Anyone can upload a video at any time they. »

Cate Blanchett Caught in the Woody Allen Crossfire

42 minutes ago | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

With Oscar voting scheduled to begin next Friday, the 1992 molestation charges against “Blue Jasmine” director Woody Allen couldn’t have resurfaced at a worse time.

The Sony Classics feature is nominated for three Academy Awards, including Best Actress (Cate Blanchett), Original Screenplay (Allen) and Best Supporting Actress (Sally Hawkins), leaving several pundits asking whether awards voters will opt against the accused filmmaker and his leading ladies. The short answer? Probably not. Still, the Woody Allen controversy underlines the fact that Hollywood awards, and the ensuing global attention, can push a lot of buttons and stir up discussions that can be enlightening, distressing, or both.

Considering the claims of molestation, questions about something like an Academy Award may seem trivial and disrespectful. But in fact, awards have been a key element of this week’s discussion as 28-year-old Dylan Farrow, in her open letter published by the N.Y. Times, addressed »

Dear ‘Walking Dead’ Zombies in NYC: Please Stop, It’s Icy Out There (Video)

Dear AMC, Just saw your clever and elaborate prank, where people dressed as “Walking Dead” zombies claw through a grate to scare unwitting Manhattanites.   Can you not do that anymore, please? I live in New York, and it’s super icy. What if we slip? I’m pretty clumsy to begin with, and especially susceptible to falls during the slippery season. Throw zombies into the wintry mix, and someone’s gonna get hurt out there. Why not wait until fall, when this would be just as scary but a little safer? Scary trick, though. And the zombies look great. All the best, »

Beauty Police: Madonna Attempts to Tap Into the Fountain of Youth With Harsh Makeup, Hair and a Gold Grill

What's up with Madonna? Does she ever look at photos of herself? Listen, we grew up with the "Material Girl" and love her as much as the next fan. But this attempt to channel a 21-year-old version of herself simply has to stop. When we saw this photo of the 55-year-old singer at the Cbgb Festival Presents Amnesty International Concert in New York, it was tough for us to take her seriously, which is such a shame since she was there to introduce formerly imprisoned ex-members of the Russian punk band Pussy Riot. We just wish Madge would embrace the fact that she's getting near the big 6-0 and give herself a softer more age-appropriate look. Beauty Bailout: Let's start with the "I've »
