About that 'Biggest Loser' winner's weight loss....

6 February 2014 1:55 PM, PST | EW - Inside TV | See recent EW.com - Inside TV news »

The Biggest Loser’s big winner has been making headlines since the finale on Tuesday night. Unfortunately, it’s not all been positive. For those who haven’t been following,  fan favorite Rachel Frederickson, 24, a voice-over artist from L.A., beat out the competition by dropping a whopping 155 pounds and going from 260lbs to 105. But many have questioned if maybe Frederickson didn’t go too far.

Today on Sirius Xm, I had the opportunity to talk to EW’s TV editors, Kristen Baldwin and Meeta Agrawal, about Frederickson’s shocking appearance, the math (!) involved in winning the competition, and about »

Here’s a clip of David Letterman talking with Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr about that landmark night and the landmark theater where it all went down. Why 'Transparent' Creator Jill Soloway Feels the Amazon Pilot Process is 'Revolutionary'

54 minutes ago | Indiewire Television | See recent Indiewire Television news »

Before she made her directorial debut with "Afternoon Delight," which starred Kathryn Hahn, Juno Temple and Josh Radnor and premiered at Sundance last year, Jill Soloway worked in television as a writer and producer on series like "United States of Tara" (for which she was showrunner) and "Six Feet Under" (which netted her three Emmy nominations). Now she's back working on the small screen, albeit in a new form -- she's the creator of "Transparent," one of 10 new original series pilots Amazon premiered on February 6th. A half-hour comedy, "Transparent" is the story of a Los Angeles family -- the divorced parents played by Jeffrey Tambor and Judith Light, with Jay DuplassGaby Hoffmann and Amy Landecker as their grown children. Warm but sharp-edged in its dialogue, "Transparent" is easily the best of the new pilots -- you can watch it online here. Indiewire caught up with Soloway by phone »

Jay Leno said goodbye to The Tonight Show for the second time in his career on Thursday. Gone for good? So he joked. “I don’t need to be fired three times! I get the hint!” And so he wept, during his most personal — and arguably best — moment of his 22-year run as the steward of the hallowed late night institution. “It really is time for me to go and hand it off to the next guy.” His last hour was a pretty good one, highlighted by the pure-pop moment of Billy Crystal bringing out a bunch of stars — Jack Black, »

Creator Simon Cowell will lead the judging panel when the UK singing competition show returns to ITV for its 11th cycle later this year, the network confirmed today after weeks of speculation. It will be his first season back on the flagship The X Factor after spending the last three years getting the U.S. version up and running on Fox while the ratings for the U.K. original have been going down. “I’m absolutely thrilled to be returning to The X Factor UK,” said Cowell, whose Syco banner co-produces that show with FremantleMedia UK. “It’s been three years since I last judged the competition and I’m excited to find a global superstar again.” Cowell’s return of course raises further questions about the future of the U.S. version of the show as the two run concurrently. 'Arrow' Season 2: Slade Wilson, prison, bank robberies and more in an extended promo

1 hour ago | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

Post by Arrow.

"Arrow" Season 2 has a lot of dark excitement in upcoming episodes, according to a new extended promo. While a voiceover threatens ruin and nowhere to hide, short clips posted to Facebook focus on destruction, crime and more.

Highlights of the Facebook video include Oliver in what looks like a prison -- possibly Dr. Ivo's medical-horror ship -- a newly tough Oliver shooting a flaming arrow on the island, Slade Wilson in what might be the Queen mansion, Diggle robbing a bank, a super awkward Lance family dinner, Felicity facing what may just be an overwhelming computer challenge and more than one Deathstroke image.

The whole thing ends with the creepiest line of all: "The dead are owed nothing."

It may not be a cheerful second half of "Arrow" Season 2, but it does look exciting! "Arrow" airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. on The CW. »

FX Developing Limited Series Based on John Scalzi's Sci-fi Novel 'Redshirts'

1 hour ago | Indiewire Television | See recent Indiewire Television news »

FX has teamed up with producers Jon Shestack ("Dan in Real Life"), Ken Kwapis ("The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants") and Alexandra Beattie to bring "Redshirts," a comedic sci-fi novel published in 2012, to the small screen, Deadline reports. The futuristic "Redshirts," written by John Scalzi, follows a group of crew members aboard the Starship Intrepid who suddenly and mysteriously start dying. At first unsure of the cause of these deaths, the crew realize that their situation mirrors that of a certain 21st century science fiction television show. Essentially, their lives -- and deaths -- are following a TV plot. Kwapis is set to direct the premiere episode with Shestack and Beattie executive producing. Prior to "Redshirts," Kwapis and Beattie were working on the Showtime comedy "Happyish," put on hold following the death of Phillip Seymour Hoffman who was cast as the lead. FX has been investing in limited series lately -- its upcoming "Fargo, »

'The Monuments Men' Cast On Jimmy Kimmel: Matt Damon and Bill Murray Steal the Show

2 hours ago | Indiewire Television | See recent Indiewire Television news »

The cast of George Clooney's The Monuments Men has been everywhere lately, promoting a film that will need all their high-profile popularity to lure viewers. Critics have rejected it; the film is very rotten on Rotten Tomatoes. I found the World War II adventure about recovered art strangely flat, full of potted lectures from Clooney about culture. (You can read my review here.) The movie is so disappointing because the story is so rich, and the cast amazing, as they show in their joint appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live.  Cate Blanchett, John Goodman, and Bob Balaban were all fun when they joined Clooney, but o one came close to Bill Murray's droll humor. Here, he and Kimmel talk about how they mistakenly, regretfully, came to co-star in Garfield.   Matt Damon came along later -- after many cuts that showed him left alone in the green room -- continuing his fake feud with Kimmel. »

Fox Business is not amused by 'Lego Movie' villain Lord Business -- Video

2 hours ago | EW.com - PopWatch | See recent EW.com - PopWatch news »

The first thing you should know about The Lego Movie: Yes, it really is that good.

The second thing you should know about The Lego Movie: Like several recent-ish family films, including but not limited to The Lorax, The Muppets, and Wall-e, it’s got an anti-conformist, anti-corporate message that’s a little hard to swallow once you consider all its tie-in merchandise. (The Lego toys, however, aren’t quite as gross as those awful Lorax car commercials.)

And as a result, Fox Business is mad. Not because of the hypocrisy inherent in the movie’s premise, but »

Paul Bettany as Vision: What does this mean for 'Agents of Shield's' Coulson?

2 hours ago | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

Big news in the Marvel Cinematic Universe: Paul Bettany will play the Vision in the upcoming "The Avengers: Age of Ultron." As confirmed by Variety, Bettany will play the android created by Ultron who later becomes an Avengers ally.

Bettany is already familiar in the McU as the voice of Tony Stark's A.I. Jarvis. Could his casting be a clue as to the Vision's story? Could Ultron somehow turn Jarvis into an android? The possibilities are intriguing.

But, most importantly, this casting officially shuts down speculation that Clark Gregg's resuscitated "Marvel's Agents of Shield" character Agent Phil Coulson is the Vision. Even before it was announced that Coulson was being brought back to life, fans speculated he could be the Vision. Gregg liked to poke fun at the rumor, but at long last fans can stop speculating that Coulson is actually that character.

So what does this mean for Coulson? »
