Paul Bettany cast as The Vision in Avengers: Age Of Ultron

7 February 2014 2:06 AM, PST

Paul Bettany has long been part of the Marvel Universe as Tony Stark's computerized butler, J.A.R.V.I.S, but the star is now set for something of an upgrade in the form of a live action role in Avengers: Age Of Ultron. According to Variety, the star has been cast as The Vision, an android created by malevolent robot (and the film's big bad), Ultron. The obvious question is whether the movie version of The Vision will be related to J.A.R.V.I.S. in any way, perhaps as some sort of corrupted version of Stark's technology? Of...

7 February 2014 1:43 AM, PST

Famously enthusiasts of long-term planning, Marvel's upcoming movie slate extends many years into the future, with a number of untitled projects lined up for 2016, 2017 and beyond. This morning, the rumour mill has gone into overdrive concerning the identity of one of said projects, with JoBlo reporting that the title Marvel has planned for a 6 May 2016 release is none other than Guardians Of The Galaxy 2. Naturally, this will probably depend to some extent on how well the first Guardians film is received when it arrives later this...

Chris Pratt talks Jurassic World

6 February 2014 11:50 PM, PST

Chris Pratt has been discussing his role in Colin Trevorrow's dino-tastic Jurassic World, and says that the film does a good job of manufacturing a new situation in which humans and dinosaurs are back on the same island… "What I liked about it was it answers the question of, ‘Why would you do that?’," says Pratt. "Like, how do you suspend disbelief to be like, ‘Oh yes, let’s make this mistake again. We haven’t learned our lesson about dinosaurs, we should definitely live with them and see how that works out!’ after like three tries at...

6 February 2014 11:36 PM, PST

The long-awaited Preacher adaptation finally looks to be officially happening, with Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and Breaking Bad's Sam Catlin bringing the cult comic-book to the small screen. Rogen has long been public as a big fan of the comic-books, and he and Goldberg will soon begin work on a pilot episode, assisted by Catlin, who will occupy the role of showrunner. The show will find its new home at AMC, having been passed up by HBO way back in 2006, when the material had been deemed too controversial. Created by Garth Ennis...

In a recent interview with Sky Movies Oldman revealed he has been approached about Star Wars VII, saying:  “They’ve called. You know, I’m more cynical about it now. Drew Pearce updates on Marvel's Runaways movie

6 February 2014 2:13 AM, PST

Runaways is not only one of Marvel's most critically acclaimed comics, but one of its longest-gestating scripts. Drew Pearce (he of Iron Man 3, All Hail the King and soon to be Mission: Impossible 5 writerly fame) chatted to us recently about the state of play with the movie's production, whether we could hope to see it as part of Marvel's Phase 3, and why it's a 'reverse Spider-Man' with flecks of The Godfather (well, ish).   Can you give us any update on Runaways? I wish I knew if Runaways had a place in Phase 3. I'm not close enough...

5 February 2014 11:18 PM, PST

The reaction to Jesse Eisenberg’s recent casting as Lex Luthor in Batman vs. Superman has been relatively positive, but it could have been very different had Warner Bros. persuaded one of their original targets to sign on. THR claims that both Adam Driver and Joaquin Phoenix were approached regarding the role before Eisenberg was cast, with both actors eventually passing up the opportunity. 5 February 2014 10:57 PM, PST

The first clip from lava-drenched actioner, Pompeii, has arrived online, and it pits Jon Snow and Jack Bauer (or should that be Kit Harington and Kiefer Sutherland?) into a fearsome face-off. The new clip shows Harington’s slave-turned-gladiator engaging in hand to hand combat, before turning to Sutherland’s devious senator, and publically thumbing his nose at him. Needless to say, Sutherland isn’t best pleased, and it may just be a show of defiance that comes back to haunt our hero. Take a look at the new clip, below… ...

Now, a Lionsgate executive has clarified the situation to THR, claiming that Hoffman had only “one major, emotional scene” left to shoot before his tragic death. “We’re going to have a couple of work-around issues but the movie will be creatively whole,” says the source. “His performances in both [remaining]...
