Description:

Definition of Children’s Ministry: Children’s Ministry is to help parents and families nurture and facilitate the spiritual growth and development of the children of South Tongass Alliance Church.

As Children’s Pastor my responsibilities are:

  • Develop, implement, coordinate and evaluate a comprehensive Children’s Ministry for birth thru elementary school age children @ STAC
  • Recruit, assign, train, direct and encourage volunteer leaders, teachers and workers for Children’s ministries
  • Evaluate, select, and provide curriculum and materials necessary for effective ministry to STAC’s children
  • Overseeing children’s ministry includes special events, programs, classes, groups, curriculum, volunteer recruitment, nursery, pre-school and kindergarten, and camp activities
  • Conduct meetings with volunteers for training, planning, encouragement and prayer
  • Provide open and honest communication with volunteer leaders and parents
  • Present a positive image of the children’s ministry
  • Work with pastors and elders on Children’s ministries priorities
  • Participate, as authorized and as budget permits, in educational training, conferences, and retreats for personal, professional and spiritual development
  • Exercise high level of confidentiality
  • Care for my own spiritual health by staying refreshed, motivated, and enriched spiritually

Requirements for position:

  • An active and genuine personal relationship with Jesus Christ and acceptance of the Bible as God’s inerrant word
  • To be willing to submit to the leadership of STAC and to meet with them regularly for direction and counsel
  • To be a role model to students, parents and volunteers by living a Christ-honoring lifestyle
  • To attend all Governing Board meetings on request and weekly staff meetings to facilitate staff communication
  • Be (or be willing to become) a member of South Tongass Alliance Church (which includes agreeing with STAC’s Statement of Faith)

Length of Commitment:

One school year & summer (minimum)

Spiritual Gifts desired:

  • Leadership
  • Service / Children
  • Administration

Compensation:

  • This is a full-time paid position (75% children, 25% other duties as assigned)
  • Full compensation amount DOE (Depends on Experience)
  • Possibly part-time; depending upon applicants needs

Other:

It is the leadership of STAC’s desire that this position eventually become a pastoral position. That means it is our hope that whoever is hired would be willing to work towards licensing & ordination/consecration through the Christian & Missionary Alliance (if they are not already licensed & ordained/consecrated with the Christian & Missionary Alliance).
