Georgetown Libraries
Georgetown University libraries provide academic resources, special collections and spaces for research, teaching and study throughout our campuses. In addition to the extensive general collection housed in Lauinger Library, the university maintains specialized legal, medical, scientific, bioethical and theological collections.
Bioethics Research Library
The Bioethics Research Library is a specialized collection of books, journals, newspaper articles, legal materials, regulations, codes, government publications and other relevant documents concerned with issues in biomedical and professional ethics. The library holdings represent the world's largest collection related to ethical issues in medicine and biomedical research.
Blommer Science Library
The Blommer Science Library is located on the third floor of the Reiss Science Building and provides library services to all Main Campus students, faculty and staff. The library, named for the late Henry J. Blommer (C'26), houses part of the science collections for the departments of biology, chemistry, computer science, mathematics and physics, and also provides information and research services for undergraduate and graduate programs in those fields.
Dahlgren Memorial Library
Located on the Georgetown University Medical Center campus, Dahlgren Library is the health sciences library for the university and Georgetown University Hospital/MedStar. The library was named in 1971 for John Vinton Dahlgren, a generous benefactor, seven years after he passed away.
Edward Bennett Williams Law Library and John Wolff International and Comparative Law Library
The Georgetown Law Library supports the research and educational endeavors of the students and faculty of the Georgetown University Law Center. The Williams Library is open to the Georgetown community and offers a wide array of services and resources for its patrons. The Wolff Library is housed separately in the Hotung International Building at the Law Center and has a vast collection of foreign and international materials.
Georgetown University School of Foreign Service in Qatar Library
The SFS-Qatar Library is located on the top floor of the Liberal Arts and Science Building in Education City, Doha, Qatar. It serves the needs of the School of Foreign Service.
Joseph Mark Lauinger Memorial Library
Lauinger Library is located on Georgetown's main campus. The library houses materials in the humanities, social sciences and business, and also holds U.S. federal government documents. The Special Collections Research Center, on the fifth floor of the library, includes rare books, manuscripts and prints. The Gelardin New Media Center and the Picchi Multimedia Room in Lauinger provide state-of-the-art equipment, technology, software and services for multimedia applications. The library was named for Joseph Mark Lauinger, a 1967 alumnus who died in Vietnam.
Maternal and Child Health Library
The Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Library is part of the National Center for Education in Maternal and Child Health at Georgetown. Founded in 1982, the center provides leadership and state-of-the-art knowledge related to maternal and child health issues to help federal, state and local policymakers, public health professionals and the public make informed decisions about services, programs and policies in this area.
Woodstock Theological Center Library
The Woodstock Theological Center Library is one of the oldest and most notable Catholic theological libraries in the United States. Founded in 1869 at Woodstock College outside Baltimore, Md., the library moved to Georgetown in 1974 to become the research tool for the independent research institute, Woodstock Theological Center.
