Overview

The overarching goals of the Section of Epidemiology and Biostatistics are to engage and foster cutting-edge research to improve women’s health. Our section is part of Columbia University Medical Center’s Research Division in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

The missions of the Section are three-fold:

  • To enhance research in perinatal, reproductive and women’s health
  • To develop and apply innovative statistical approaches to studies in human reproduction
  • To excel in training the next generation of researchers by transmitting the very foundations of research, to rigorously apply epidemiology and biostatistics methods to population-based and clinical studies on human reproduction

We strive for excellence in teaching to clearly transmit the principles of epidemiology and biostatistics the building blocks of research to medical students, residents, fellows and faculty the department. Our goal is to generate knowledge by unraveling new and innovative paradigms allowing us to understand disease etiologies, and adverse outcomes that underlie complications that affect women’s, and newborn’s health.

We strive hard to accomplish these goals!
