Overview

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Columbia University Medical Center has a longstanding commitment to education. The programs we offer are designed to prepare physicians for rewarding and meaningful careers in patient care, medical research and teaching. Our residency and fellowship training programs have an excellent reputation for providing exposure to a wide range of clinical experiences and research opportunities while under the direct supervision of expert faculty mentors. We also participate in teaching medical students as part of Columbia’s Medical School curriculum and offer both required and elective courses. To ensure future success for all of our graduates, we provide comprehensive examinations such as the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) and our annual Sloane Olympics events. These examinations assess clinical skills, medical knowledge and professional behaviors. Our programs emphasize inclusive, collaborative approaches to patient care, critical in today’s rapidly evolving healthcare environment.

We are closely affiliated with Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, an Ivy League medical school with a global reputation for academic excellence, and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, a world-renowned teaching hospital currently ranked fifth in the nation by U.S. News & World Report. Our affiliates provide us with abundant resources, including access to the most advanced, state-of-the-art technology and a vast network of highly experienced medical professionals in all specialties – together, we strive to provide our patients with the highest quality of care.
