Program Director’s Welcome

Welcome to the Obstetrics and Gynecology residency program at Sloane Hospital for Women at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital – Columbia University Medical Center. This exciting, fast-paced program provides trainees with a wealth of clinical experience and exposure to all facets of our diverse and rewarding specialty.

Our program is filled with bright, energetic young physicians who are not only stellar clinicians but also extremely well-versed in the current literature of our field. During the course of their training, our house officers gain experience in managing virtually all of the problems that may confront a practitioner in our specialty.

The department is led by Dr. Mary D’Alton, an internationally acclaimed expert in maternal-fetal medicine, and is home to one of the largest and most respected faculties of any department in the United States. We have a brand new facility (Center for Prenatal Pediatrics) that houses our Obstetric and Pediatric Services along with a state-of-the-art labor and delivery floor and Level III NICU that is second to none, all located within the Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital. We also have the privilege of being surrounded by extraordinarily talented colleagues in every specialty at the College of Physicians and Surgeons and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, which allows us to offer world-class, comprehensive care to virtually any patient admitted to our service.

Finally, we are located in one of the largest, most diverse cities in the world and serve a patient population that presents us with genetic, medical and surgical challenges of incredible complexity on a daily basis.

The training program at Sloane Hospital for Women is rigorous but rewarding, and upon completion, our graduates have superb clinical skills and the academic foundation to prepare them for any fellowship training or private practice opportunity.

Rini Banerjee Ratan, MD
Residency Program Director

Program Coordinator’s Welcome

As your coordinator, I will help guide you through our application and interview process and assist you with all administrative (non-clinical) aspects of our program, many of which are related to compliance.

I am sure most of you are familiar with the saying, “If it’s not written, it wasn’t done.” This aphorism holds true for residency – documentation will play an integral role in your training, and my goal will be to ensure that you adhere to the institutional requirements and those that enable our program to achieve ACGME accreditation status. Together, we will conquer all such compliance issues.

I look forward to meeting you during our interview season, and please feel free to email me if you have any questions.

Sincerely,
Jennifer S. Link
